Rangers goalkeeper Steve Simonsen's two-match ban for betting on matches has been challenged by the Scottish FA compliance officer.

He says the punishment handed down by an independent panel was too lenient.

Simonsen was banned for two matches - one suspended until the end of the season - after being found guilty of betting on a total of 55 games.


This is the first occasion a compliance officer has appealed the decision of an independent panel.

It's incidents like this, and Lennons slap on the wrist we need to be highlighting.

So he was sent to the stand in the closing stages which means very little time of the game remaining and that was sufficient so he really hadn't been punished, Lennon was the same one who was sent off at Ibrox when the unwashed manager and they claimed because he had spent 45mins in the stand he was only to be giving an absolutely bizarre 45min ban because he had already spent 45mins in the stand after being sent off.

I can't think of any other manager who's been sent to the stand and been given the same as Lennon.

I despair at football these days. It’s just no fun. We’ve given everything to support not just rangers but Scottish football and the governing body just seems to want to keep piling on one injustice after another.

We only ask for fairness and consistency we get treated differently time and time again.
