Personal Injury Claim from an Accident

A guy ran into my car about a month ago and as a result I had to go to the doctors a couple of days later with a sore shoulder / neck. The doc just said up my dosage of ibuprofen etc and call back if it doesn't help and she'd prescribe me something stronger. Never got any better so got prescribed some stronger painkillers etc which did help but I still have some discomfort in my neck, especially after playing football.

Anyway, I have legal cover with my insurance and they put me onto a solicitor to make a claim for me. The did so and arranged an appointment on Monday with a private doctor in town so they can check my out for the claim I guess. Anyway got a letter in today saying the guys insurance has admitted full responsibly and they'd like to offer me £1500 without seeing any medical evidence. They said if I can let them know if I want to accept before attending my appointment on Monday.

They always say don't accept the first offer but not sure if anyone's had any experience of this at all? I've not been back at the docs since my initial visit and it is much better but don't want to end up with nothing..

Don't accept £1500 if you genuinely had an injury you will get double that figure.

Hence why they are happy to give you £1500 to disappear without even seeing any medical reports etc

It wasn't a major injury it's just a wee bit sore (still is). Got an emergency appointment at my GP and still take the painkillers

Go to your appointment mate , no reason not to if as your saying it's a genuine injury as said u will easily get 2.5k-5k depending on injury

Mrs el jock was in a bump a few years back. She was stationary when another car hit her head on. She said the other driver couldn't have been going more than 15mph.
She developed shoulder & lower back pain & although didn't think it was from the bump, did mention it to her insurance company. They referred her to a Dr.
The Dr she attended was a specialist in "low speed collisions" apparently, so there may be something in it.

You could have done something long term that's only going to get worse over time.

Did your lawyer recommend to take the offer or that they would negotiate? They can't legally tell you to expect x amount but can advise your course of action.

every bump/scrape/bang/bruise/break has a value to it - believe it or not. There is a law book floating about that will give you an indication on this.

If you post your contact details, I will pass on one of the experts who seem to contact me daily about the injury I suffered in a road accident. ;)

But you don't know what may happen in the future, insurance company will be looking to close case and move on, no doctors fees for examinations which could be 300-400 a pop. Stay strong and you'll get a better offer

I just received 2600 for a similar incident. Had to attended 6 physio sessions. Took 4 months for the offer.

I'd recommend going to the medical appointment. If you're having ongoing pain and discomfort then make that very clear. Likely scenario is that the medical expert will opine that it'll be a few more months before you're 100% recovered. That should mean your case will be worth £3000 plus. Insurers try to get rid of claims on the cheap by making pre medical offers and it's not an ethical practice. Make them pay what is appropriate according to expert medical evidence

Don't accept offer, go to private appointment and wait for the doctors report, you will receive an improved offer in a couple of weeks

I was involved in an accident a few weeks ago. I was on a bus and this daft boot just decided to stop to let her husband out her car when she shouldnt have and the bus I was on had to make an emergency stop and screeched to a halt and the long and short of it is that I was sitting in the seats at the front across from the disabled bit and right next to the luggage section.

when the bus made the emergency stop this woman sitting next me smashed right in to me and I went straight in the metal bar of the luggage section and the result is I have badly bruised ribs. that are agony
