Press Conference Philippe Clement at tonight’s Benfica press conference - “I don’t believe impossible exists”

Well the good news is there are only 3 games left to win the Scottish cup.

Rangers used to be “The Treble Kings”. Maybe the sham of the last decade has dulled your senses to the significance of a treble.

No, the world has just changed and continued European progression is far more important than winning a domestic cup that holds no prestige other than bragging rights these days.

Progressing one more round in Europe will give us far more than winning the scottish cup. More money, more prestige, more exposure to raise players profiles to ultimately sell.

Do you think Calvin Bassey was sold for 20+m due to his Scottish Cup exploits or his Europa League exploits?

Clearly another round of European progression is more lucrative financially. But, and this will sound rather old fashioned, traditionally at Rangers we put great stock in winning trophies.

Many will talk about that being in the DNA of the club, which presumably you think old fashioned nonsense.

Anyone who would savour beating Benfica more than winning the Scottish cup is either mad or completely lost sight of what it means to be a football fan.

And as to bragging rights - I wouldn’t underestimate their importance in this city.

Haven't lost sight of anything.

It's maybe you who has lost sight of the changing landscape of football.

We should ultimately be trying to win everything while we are in it, and progress as far in Europe as we can, but the significance of domestic cups these days is virtually nothing in comparison to what we gain from Europe.
