It was at this time that he started a local boys football team called Bishopbrigss Amateurs. His captain for a time would be the one and only Walter Smith. Also in suits Alex Willoughby (354) and Jim Forrest (570).

Had the pleasure of meeting Jim and Alex many years ago,Jim when he was working in the shipyard in Govan and Alex when he was on the committee in the WRC.
