Player of the tournament

Olmo for me.

He's made the difference when it mattered.

Creativity, skill and goals get my vote ahead of defensive midfield excellence.

El Classico certainly going to be lively again now isn’t it, went through a dire spell for a few seasons. Tv rights will be rising for La Liga.

Fabian Ruiz for me. I was blissfully unaware of him before the tournament but he has blown me away. Everything you want in a midfielder.

A very fair call but hes also been a little wasteful at times, its just not cost them in games.

Id go with Rodri or Olmo.

The thing with Gakpo compared to the two you've mentioned is that he's been the standout player for his team, and I think that helps a player get noticed. As opposed to being just one part of an excellent team overall.

It may come down to who wins the golden boot out of Gakpo and Olmo.

Has to be hagi for me ;) And if there is any scouts or directors of football looking in and reading this you can buy him for a bargain price of €10m ;) But seriously its either rodri or yamal for me

Rodri is a no brainer as it stands. Everything Spain do all works around him in the engine room. All the other great performances from Spanish player as abled by him essentially. Take him out the team and none of this is happening. Take anyone else out the team other than him and they could probably still make it work.

Quite bizarre that England have at least a 50/50 chance of making the final, nearly every team except Spain has been poor and yet if you had about a 30 man short list, you still couldn't make a legitimate argument for a single England player right now.

If it isn’t Rodri then it’s wrong. He dictates absolutely everything that Spain does
It won't be. Just over a year ago the guy was champs lge player of the year, scored all manner of hugely important goals across all competitions, barely lost a game as his team won the treble yet was still way down the list when it came to ballon d'or.
Guarantee he ain't winning this even he bags on Sunday and Spain smash England. He's not PR friendly enough.

Yamal probably would get my vote.

Anyone but Jude :))

What's this Yamal nonsense. Hype hype hype. Spain would win without him. Without Rodri or Luiz? No.
Maybe they would, but the lad is 16 years old and as an individual he is excelling at the very highest level.
This is a kid who's hype is justified and backed up with proper performances on the big stage.

It's been a poor tournament overall so outside of the Spanish lads oure really scraping the barrel to pick out anyone who could have a legit shout of winning it.
Only players I think who could really be considered for England would be Saka because I think he's been the one consistent threat on his flank pretty much all tournament, and the young lad Mainoo has looked excellent in midfield. Really classy young player. That's about it for me.

Fantastic player.

He kind of drew my attention early as he was coming on in matches and making a real impact.

I just checked and he’s only actually started 2 matches and he hasn’t completed a full one yet.

I guess that Spain side is almost impossible to break into but by God he hasn’t half staked a claim for a starting place in the final.

Good to see so many shouts for Ruiz. He really caught the eye from the first game when he sent Modric to the shops to score a brilliant finish.

Spain have played some real nice stuff. Yamal getting loads of plaudits. Olmo has been great too.

Fabian Ruiz been excellent for me as well. Hadn’t noticed much of him before this tournament but he’s been a real stand out here.

Saliba had a strong tournament as well tbf.

Mention for the Georgian lad as well. Great player.

For me the best 3 are all Spanish, Rodri, Fabian Ruiz and Olmo.

Biggest disappointments are soon to be Real Madrid team mates, Mbappe and Bellingham (despite his 2 very important goals). Both have been bang average.

Indeed England imho would have a better chance of winning on Sunday if they dropped Bellingham and Kane.

Watkins should start ahead of Kane. But zero chance it will happen.

Bellingham was better last night too. Not to the extent that Saka has improved across the tournament, but better

He had 1 semi decent game, nowhere close to being player of the tournament.
Agreed. But there's a few bitter types on here who will gaslight and assign bitterness on others who will lose their mind if you are anything but positive about them. Even fair and valid criticism or rightly pointing out others have played well is not allowed.
