Player rating Man by Man (from the sun)

Imagine not being at, or seeing the game, you'd read that and wonder how many we got beat by!
On a night when we needed a 2-0 victory, we win 2-0 and that's the most praiseworthy they can come up with.
Sore night for Kenny and his employers!!

I don't get angry or really care about ratings but this is actually laughable especially when compared to Celtic's.

Ralston makes mistakes leading to 2 goals for Leverkusen gets a 7, Bitton makes a mistake leading to a goal and fluffy his pass for Celtic's second gets a 7, Juronovic nearly misses his penalty and makes a massive mistake that luckily for him never lead to a goal gets an 8.

Goldson keeps a clean sheet and puts in his best performance of the season gets a 6, Bassey playing outside his natural position and puts in a dominating performance gets a 6.

Turnbull does very little and gets a higher rating than (minus Kamara) our entire midfield despite all the chances created.

The goalkeeping ratings are the biggest point to the disparity between the Ratings. Both making 2 world class double saves and another good save. One keeps a clean sheet, while the other loses 3 and gets nutmegged from the edge of the box for the winner. McGregor 7 - Hart 9. Under a fair and honest rating system both probably get an 8

I mean they could atleast try to hide their contempt for us and love for Celtic.

Going by those ratings you wouldn't think we could've won by 4 or 5, while Celtic were incredibly lucky to only lose 3-2.

Like I said it's actually laughable.

Come on now, by writing that -h-t they are providing terrific entertainment for us - as you point out in your post. B-DThey must be sick as the proverbial parrot !

Brilliant, Scottish team winning in Europe and qualifying for the later stages (again) and the players all barely got pass marks.

What did he give Celtic ? All heroic 8's and 9's after yet another pumping in Europe ?

Edit - just seen them haha !

I only say the last 15 minutes of the Celtic game, but Ralston gave away a goal, nearly gave away another 2 and looked a complete bombscare. The "wondersaves" from Hart were horrendous finishing from the Leverkusen players, the equaliser went through his legs ffs.

Completely impartial though, I'm sure.

I got as far as McGregor 7 after an unbelievable double stop and Tavernier, clean sheet in Europe and barely troubled down his side getting a 6...quick scan sees 6 for the entire back 4
Clueless

The rhags can continue to gaslight their yahoo readership about Flangeball all they like, I couldn’t care less.

For comparisons sake, I took a look at their ratings of those plucky Celt’s.

Joe Hart: Made one amazing save after another in an incredible second half performance. His stop to deny Amine Adli at 1-1 almost had to be seen to believed. 9
Tony Ralston:
Played well but lost his man Robert Andrich at the opening goal and then was culpable at their late winner when he had the chjanvce to clear the ball upfield. 7
Cameron Carter-Vickers:
Continues to impress in a Celtic jersey. The centre-back is a calming influence on the players around him but gets stuck in too. 8
Stephen Welsh:
Shouts, bawls and organises like a seasoned pro. The young Scot is only going to learn from nights like these against this level of opposition. 8
Josip Juranovic:
His heart must have skipped a beat for a split second when his audacious Panenka penalty clipped the underside of the crossbar. Defensively did fine. 8
Nir Bitton:
Got caught on the ball in the first-half in a careless moment which led to the Leverkusen corner they scored from. But the Israeli got better and better. 7
Callum McGregor:
His range of passing was off in the first-half but the Celts skipper became one of the driving forces. Was constantly encouraging his team-mates to dig deep.8
James Forrest:
First Celtic start since August 18 and he ran himself into the ground before being taken off in the second half when he had absolutely nothing left to give. 7
David Turnbull:
Midfielder’s effort and energy was good throughout the game. Played a part in the cracking Celtic goal which saw them go 2-1 in front in the second half. 7
Jota:
Delivered a sensational cross which saw Celtic awarded a penalty to make it 1-1, then finished brilliantly inside the box to fire the team ahead. Missed when he went off. 8
Kyogo Furuhashi:
Proper team player. Even when things weren’t going his way he didn’t stop running. Deserves huge praise for taking one for the team at the penalty incident. 7

MIKEY JOHNSTON (3) did everything he could to cause problems but didn’t get the rub of the green. LIEL ABADA (2) did okay. ALBIAN AJETI (1) nowhere near good enough for Celtic at this level. JAMES McCARTHY (1) tried to plug gaps but his legs just don’t take him around the pitch like they used to.

Wow.
So our defence kept a clean sheet and every one of them got a 6 but Ralston who was responsible for 2 Leverkusen goals got a 7? :D

Journalists. Never played a proper game of football in their puff. Think they are knowledgeable about the game as Pep, Jose, Klopp etc. but in fact they know hee haw about the game

It amazes me how some readers accept the utter dross they print

SunSport's Kenny MacDonald runs the rule over the home side.

ALLAN McGREGOR: Great first-half stop with his foot to deny Krejci during Sparta’s best spell of game, then a comfortable take from Hancko’s second-half effort. But terrific double save late on kept clean sheet. 7

JAMES TAVERNIER: Wrote in the match programme of how unacceptable Sunday’s loss to Hibs had been, same could’ve been said of his wasted cross from a good position. Has been a lot better but plugged away. 6

CONNOR GOLDSON: Sunday’s criticism of the team and performance seemed to be a catalyst for a much more committed display. Solid and vocal throughout, steady when the heat was on, no real issues. 6

CALVIN BASSEY: Never looks completely convincing in the heart of defence but no-one can quibble about his enthusiastic approach. His pace was an asset in a few hairy first-half moments. 6

BORNA BARISIC: One great first-half defensive clearance but found opportunities to get forward restricted. Defensively sound and toughed it out during Sparta’s spells on top. Booked. 6

GLEN KAMARA: Looked a man on a mission after his Prague red card and his shameful September treatment there. Always willing to take the ball in a congested midfield and is a real asset on nights like these. 7

STEVEN DAVIS: Use of the ball was erratic and looked weary on occasion, but kept at it against a sometimes-lively Sparta midfield. Has had better days. Eventually subbed. 6

JOE ARIBO: Rattled crossbar after six minutes but seemed spooked after he carelessly missed a sitter from Hagi’s cross halfway through the first-half. Lofted another decent second-half chance over. Subbed. 6

IANIS HAGI: His tenacity set up Morelos' opener then provided a great cross for Aribo’s sitter miss. Booked for a foul on Krejci just before the break and eventually withdrawn. Looked bright though. 6

RYAN KENT: One great cut-back for an Aribo drive early on, fired decent chance wide early in second-half then blasted another against keeper’s legs. Showed in fits and starts before being subbed. 6

ALFREDO MORELOS: Cool finish for first group stage goal of season settled Rangers then he gobbled up Panak’s gift to head key second. Denied a hat-trick by keeper’s legs and generally looked much more like the player he once was. 8

Subs: NATHAN PATTERSON (Hagi 65, 5) Wide on the right of midfield, provided plenty of energy; FASHION SAKALA (Kent 80, 3) Tried to join up with Morelos, one good run; SCOTT ARFIELD (Aribo 80, 3) On for 50th European appearance, got stuck in as usual; JOHN LUNDSTRAM (Davis 88, 2) Late change to waste time.

I don't even know why I pay any attention to any the excrement written by anyone from these rags but although not out best performance tonight there were plenty of positive and a lots to get excited about with hoe we played and got the job done, unlike some!! But surely we deserve more the 3 players over 6 out of 10? Not like I give a %^*& about anything they say or do puy much faith or have any respect.for anything they day or do!! Nut we were for better the 6 out of ten tonight!! And achieved out primary goal amd objectives!! Another shoer of.rancid bastards!! Fcuk them all!!

Into the next round against the cl drop out!! " but it's not for everyone"

Good night bears!!
Bassey 6?
Hilarious!

Just clocked the Lundstram comment.

Bitter.

Smashed out on a keyboard through streams of tears?

“Tony Ralston: Played well but lost his man Robert Andrich at the opening goal and then was culpable at their late winner when he had the chjanvce to clear the ball upfield. 7”

Better than nearly every Rangers player in a winning performance

The final comment on the Japanese guy weird too

Go out of their way to create weird positives about him; to deflect from his usual diving?

What are his rating usually like? The text of his review is pretty accurate. If he just generally gives low numbers there isn't really anything wrong with his review at all. Some people would say 10 out of 10 is perfect, and pretty much impossible. He has said all Rangers players were above average.

Hahaha, the comparison between the ratings for a keeper that kept a clean sheet with a couple of terrific saves and one who let 3 in is amazing.

Let them be deluded. It's always the ideal situation to be in with that mob.

Credit to both Hart and McGregor for point blank double saves

I think any honest football fan would admit Greegsy’s was better (not dt17 though) and he didn’t make the errors Hart did.

Both deserve a good rating with Greegsy’s a bit higher

6 is the “average” rating usually in these things

There is nothing fair and very little accurate about the comments

Wow.
This must be the real Gallowgate Galactos I have heard so much about , they sound fantastic , how much did they win by ? ;)

Goldson and Bassey both 6 ffs.

Clown wouldn't know a ball if it hit him straight between the eyes.

On a scale of 0-10, 5 is average.
No. Not it’s not.

5 does not indicate the player was average.

If you are saying 5 is the middle number between zero and 10 that is correct. 6 is the score most people apply as an “average” performance to a player in a game of football.

If someone is assigned a 5 for their performance that is typically considered to be the first “poor” rating.

You just had to stop at Joe Hart getting a 9.. Shipped 3 goals, one through his legs..

McGregor, 7.. Clean sheet, and a true wonder double save
