SunSport's Kenny MacDonald runs the rule over the home side.

ALLAN McGREGOR: Great first-half stop with his foot to deny Krejci during Sparta’s best spell of game, then a comfortable take from Hancko’s second-half effort. But terrific double save late on kept clean sheet. 7

JAMES TAVERNIER: Wrote in the match programme of how unacceptable Sunday’s loss to Hibs had been, same could’ve been said of his wasted cross from a good position. Has been a lot better but plugged away. 6

CONNOR GOLDSON: Sunday’s criticism of the team and performance seemed to be a catalyst for a much more committed display. Solid and vocal throughout, steady when the heat was on, no real issues. 6

CALVIN BASSEY: Never looks completely convincing in the heart of defence but no-one can quibble about his enthusiastic approach. His pace was an asset in a few hairy first-half moments. 6

BORNA BARISIC: One great first-half defensive clearance but found opportunities to get forward restricted. Defensively sound and toughed it out during Sparta’s spells on top. Booked. 6

GLEN KAMARA: Looked a man on a mission after his Prague red card and his shameful September treatment there. Always willing to take the ball in a congested midfield and is a real asset on nights like these. 7

STEVEN DAVIS: Use of the ball was erratic and looked weary on occasion, but kept at it against a sometimes-lively Sparta midfield. Has had better days. Eventually subbed. 6

JOE ARIBO: Rattled crossbar after six minutes but seemed spooked after he carelessly missed a sitter from Hagi’s cross halfway through the first-half. Lofted another decent second-half chance over. Subbed. 6

IANIS HAGI: His tenacity set up Morelos' opener then provided a great cross for Aribo’s sitter miss. Booked for a foul on Krejci just before the break and eventually withdrawn. Looked bright though. 6

RYAN KENT: One great cut-back for an Aribo drive early on, fired decent chance wide early in second-half then blasted another against keeper’s legs. Showed in fits and starts before being subbed. 6

ALFREDO MORELOS: Cool finish for first group stage goal of season settled Rangers then he gobbled up Panak’s gift to head key second. Denied a hat-trick by keeper’s legs and generally looked much more like the player he once was. 8

Subs: NATHAN PATTERSON (Hagi 65, 5) Wide on the right of midfield, provided plenty of energy; FASHION SAKALA (Kent 80, 3) Tried to join up with Morelos, one good run; SCOTT ARFIELD (Aribo 80, 3) On for 50th European appearance, got stuck in as usual; JOHN LUNDSTRAM (Davis 88, 2) Late change to waste time.

I don't even know why I pay any attention to any the excrement written by anyone from these rags but although not out best performance tonight there were plenty of positive and a lots to get excited about with hoe we played and got the job done, unlike some!! But surely we deserve more the 3 players over 6 out of 10? Not like I give a %^*& about anything they say or do puy much faith or have any respect.for anything they day or do!! Nut we were for better the 6 out of ten tonight!! And achieved out primary goal amd objectives!! Another shoer of.rancid bastards!! Fcuk them all!!

Into the next round against the cl drop out!! " but it's not for everyone"

Not too far off the mark (crash helmet)
We were not great tonight, but Sparta were rank.
Expected a lot more from them.
Showed how bad we were in 1st leg.
Signs though, we're getting back to our best in Europe.
Just need to bring that game back into the domestic scene.

Strap on your crash helmet, Sir.

He was a mark or two short for at least half of the team and if that wasn't a great performance from us, then it was pretty damn close.

There's a reason Sparta were 'rank', its because we were good, some would say very good.

The player ratings are a joke. Joe Hart got a 9 in the same paper for losing 3 goals.

What do we expect? It would be like me rating the filths man by man performance, I'd naturally start from a negative viewpoint and struggle to move past it. So let's just take solace in their wallowing agony.

Edit: He probably wrote that while sitting in the studio at the chamber of horrors with the other deadheads.

Can't disagree with much of that really.
A mark or two isn't "too far off the mark". Maybe not half the team though.
It was a very good performance, c'mon, we've seen this team batter far better sides in europe. Good signs though.

For comparisons sake, I took a look at their ratings of those plucky Celt’s.

Joe Hart: Made one amazing save after another in an incredible second half performance. His stop to deny Amine Adli at 1-1 almost had to be seen to believed. 9
Tony Ralston:
Played well but lost his man Robert Andrich at the opening goal and then was culpable at their late winner when he had the chjanvce to clear the ball upfield. 7
Cameron Carter-Vickers:
Continues to impress in a Celtic jersey. The centre-back is a calming influence on the players around him but gets stuck in too. 8
Stephen Welsh:
Shouts, bawls and organises like a seasoned pro. The young Scot is only going to learn from nights like these against this level of opposition. 8
Josip Juranovic:
His heart must have skipped a beat for a split second when his audacious Panenka penalty clipped the underside of the crossbar. Defensively did fine. 8
Nir Bitton:
Got caught on the ball in the first-half in a careless moment which led to the Leverkusen corner they scored from. But the Israeli got better and better. 7
Callum McGregor:
His range of passing was off in the first-half but the Celts skipper became one of the driving forces. Was constantly encouraging his team-mates to dig deep.8
James Forrest:
First Celtic start since August 18 and he ran himself into the ground before being taken off in the second half when he had absolutely nothing left to give. 7
David Turnbull:
Midfielder’s effort and energy was good throughout the game. Played a part in the cracking Celtic goal which saw them go 2-1 in front in the second half. 7
Jota:
Delivered a sensational cross which saw Celtic awarded a penalty to make it 1-1, then finished brilliantly inside the box to fire the team ahead. Missed when he went off. 8
Kyogo Furuhashi:
Proper team player. Even when things weren’t going his way he didn’t stop running. Deserves huge praise for taking one for the team at the penalty incident. 7

MIKEY JOHNSTON (3) did everything he could to cause problems but didn’t get the rub of the green. LIEL ABADA (2) did okay. ALBIAN AJETI (1) nowhere near good enough for Celtic at this level. JAMES McCARTHY (1) tried to plug gaps but his legs just don’t take him around the pitch like they used to.

I honestly don’t get the slightest bit annoyed by these kind of things. Just imagine them sitting in the Sun HQ absolutely frothing at the mouth after seeing their beloved team crash out of Europe for the 2nd time and it’s only November while their mentally challenged veins pop out their necks knowing the Famous have out-matched them in Europe again….they then sit there and hatch their player rating plan for each match thinking it somehow balances out the fact their team are honking and have conceded more goals than any other team in the UEL. The San Marino of Europe :)):)):)):))

Definitity, I’m all for bigging them up to be something they aren’t. It makes the inevitable fall out all the better.

Just further proof that that rag are at it. Don’t buy. Don’t click.

One Brittish side won in Europe this evening and progressed further in the competition.

The other “British” side by all accounts (I don’t watch them outside of OF games) took a beating and were relegated to the Conference.

Another brave defeat for celtic.

What a load of crap .. thought our attitude was a lot better last night. Tav had a couple of loose crosses but nothing too dire, Borna had one of his better games . Compared to the celtic marks that is a joke

So Ralston, who according to the blurb, was culpable for two out of three goals lost, gets the same score as Shagger with a decent point blank save in the first half and a world class double save in the second to effectively put his team into the next stage. System might be slightly flawed

Hate mongering bigots can’t be objective. Their bigotry always clouds their judgement. I’ll honestly say I haven’t taken a journalist seriously for decades. They write with an ingrained biased agenda to push a certain narrative.
When people realise they’re there to misinform, push the globalist agenda and gaslight people EVERYTHING becomes clear.
Fuuck every one of them.

Exactly. This is absolutely brilliant: Tony Ralston: "lost his man Robert Andrich at the opening goal" and "culpable at their late winner" - 7 (higher than every single member of our defence that kept a clean sheet)

One defence scores 40

One scores 31

One lost 3 goals goalie had a couple of good saves

One lost 0 goals goalie has couple of good saves and ensures qualification.

Absolutely pathetic marking

The Celtic ratings are hilarious. Hart was nutmegged by a shot from distance, Welsh beaten in the air for their first but both oustanding.

Incredible level of delusion.

Have to remember that our ratings were written in a state of grief.
