Jack 5 love Jacko but wasn’t his night, needed drive from the Midfield and he doesn’t give us that

The subs came on and all played well.

Kent 6 - tried, not his night
Barker 5 - anonymous, shouldn't be starting any games
Morelos 4 - completely uninterested, first touch appalling, looks like he's towing a caravan

Jones 6 - was direct and positive, should've been on the pitch longer
Patterson 6 - slack pass but then pass of the night, looks a prospect
Arfield 6 - offered more than Davis and Jack

How can you give Aribo a 5 and Jones and Paterson a 6? Aribo was the only midfielder that turned up. He competed well on his own for 90 mins.

Only 2 I think you’re harsh on are McGregor who did make a couple of saves, although his attempts at kicks are getting laughable now. And Kent who I thought when we got the ball to tried his best to create something

Tav- 4 thought he had a really poor night
Goldson - 6 decent
Helander - 7 our best performer on the night
Barisic - 5 crossing not great, defending ok

Jack - 5 he found it hard against this level of opposition
Davis - 4 Looks leggy and his range of passing isn't even there at the moment
Aribo - 5 grew into the game I thought, pretty poor first 60 mins though

Kent - 5 worked hard but to no real avail
Barker - 5 same as Kent really
Morelos - 1 to quote the gaffer, head gone. Never controlled a ball all night.

I don’t think he really stood a chance, yeah he could have been quicker I agree but think it was a foregone conclusion
 
McGregor 6 Great save, kicking a bit shite
Tav 5, not really at it. Run ragged by better players
Goldson 6, some good tackles and generally distribution was ok apart from one howler
Helander 8 best of our bunch
Barisic 6, tried hard to deliver but often let down by an empty box
Jack 4. Forgot he was playing
Davis 4, see Jack
Aribo 7, improved massively when Hagi came on
Kent 5 huffed and puffed
Barker 4, and that’s generous

Hagi 7 changed the dynamic of our game and gave Aribo room to breathe
Arfield 6 did ok, and better than those coming off
Stewart 5 Ran about a bit without achieving much
Patterson 5 looked ok.
Jones 5 better than Barker but still a bit lacking
 
Mcgregor was trying things he never has before, looked to me like management are asking him to do more with his distribution, which won’t end well.

How you can give Davis the same mark as Aribo baffles me. I thought Davis was chronic. He reminds me of a wasp stuck inside the house. It just buzzed about and bounced around the window but had no clue that the open window above was a way out.

Looked exactly like a game that we had to get over and done with, much like a visit to the dentist. Our players showed very little interest
 
I thought the only 2 worth any sort of pass marks were our centre half pairing. A combination of us having a poor night and them being a cracking side made for a long and frustrating night. One best put behind us and quickly forgotten.

He didn’t compete. He along with the rest of the midfield were schooled. Personally don’t get the new found adoration of aribo based on preseason. He’s ok - not the world beater he’s being made out to be.

Is the folk giving morelos a 1 just voicing their displeasure? Wee guy was shite last night but to give a 1 would be off the back of an og and a red card fs lol.

He was OK but could’ve, and probably would’ve, prevented the goal if he’d come off his line. I doubt the player scores if he’s under pressure there.

Also a few times he should’ve been barking instructions but didn’t. For example when Goldson headed out for a corner when there was no Leverkusen player within about 10 yards. Shagger has to communicate with him to just nod it back to him.

Our composure as a team was woeful but will put it down to a bad day in very hot conditions.
