Players coping with pressure of playing for Rangers

We have had numerous players that have came to Rangers and for whatever reason they just haven’t worked out

Looking at it there is obviously a massive pressure that comes with a player wearing our jersey but could it be as simple as players just not dealing with the pressure of playing for a club of our stature

We have had many players who have came from relatively big clubs and no matter what the size of team any professional club will come with it’s own pressure be it a relegation battle, worrying about wages, gaining promotion, getting into Europe, surely players wherever they are feel a certain amount of pressure to win and deliver consistently same as we demand as a fanbase

What becomes different when they make the move to Ibrox?

I played Isthmian League down south quite a few years ago, some gates could be 2-3,000. Even when there was only maybe 4-500 there, if they got on your back for a mistake or two, you noticed it and it did affect you.

To have 50,000 possibly on your back must really be tough to take. A mentally strong attitude is definitely required.

We can see it with players who have been doing well out on loan. The pressure to win at their loan clubs isn't as great and having 3 poor games in a row is fine because they play well in the 4th. At Rangers, playing that way isn't acceptable and that kind of weight of expectation needs a confident and strong character.

Surely though each club has it's own demands and pressures that could affect players

There is a different level of expectation at Ibrox than anywhere else, even the Bheggars.

One bad game for Rangers and people are marking your card - 2 in a row and you are pretty much done for. Strong people usually rise to it but those less sure of themselves can collapse in from of you.

Add to that the focus on you just going about your day to day business around the city and the mental toll of being a Rangers player must be daunting.
