Playing on until offside

Further on from the Van Dyke incident.
The delayed raising of the flag for offside has caused this injury and been deemed to be not in play. This crazy rule can and probably will get more players injured and could have a serious impact on results.
For example a goalkeeper diving at the strikers feet consentrating on preventing a goal only for the offside flag being raised after the impact with the striker.

Happened at the weekend, Newcastle goalie injured going for a ball against Rashford then the flag came up. Played on and let in three goals in the last 10 minutes.

Not sure he'd have stopped any of them fully fit though.

When in Newcastles favour last season at Sheffield United. Ball was played through to Shelvey, Sheffield United defenders and goalie thought he was offside to kept playing, Shelvey walked through and put the ball in the back of the net. Flag went up but VAR showed that he was onside so the goal stood.

If there's one great thing about VAR its that its shown up how ridiculous offside is. Once again a cracking goal is ruled out in the Leeds v Wolves game. Someone's toe was in the wrong place. Just like Liverpool's last minute winner against Everton and the one in the Crystal Palace v Bournemouth game.
