Tribute To Johnny Hubbard MBE (16th December 1930 - 21st June 2018)

His name was Johnny Hubbard, Oh how we loved that man
To wear the Light Blue shirt was God's masterplan
He wore it with great honour and no one can deny
That man called Johnny Hubbard was the apple of our eye

His birth place was Pretoria, Ibrox was his home
He graced the hallowed turf with grace and great aplomb
He terrorised defenders, ran amok down that left wing
When it came to taking penalties he was proudly called the King

On the First Day of the New Year in Nineteen Fifty Five
It had been appointed, his greatest hour did arrive
He put Celtic to the sword and did it with a smile
For Johnny scored a hat trick in the Johnny Hubbard style

Oh Johnny you were down to earth ,You were one of us
A supporter of the Rangers who never made a fuss
You shared your precious memories of all your glory days
The pleasure was all ours but your is all the praise

We are proud and honoured that such a man as you
A man of great distinction so loyal and so true
Loved and served our club until you heard the call
To leave the marble staircase to walk down Heaven's Hall

Yet we know that you will be with us whenever Rangers play
Amongst the Called and Chosen down dear old Ibrox way
We will feel your presence just like we felt your love
Mr Hubbard we salute you sir, Rest In Peace above.

Shared this with Colin Stewart who was close to Johnny I am sure he will love it and and I think he will want to share it with others. More should see it. Excellent and poignant well done.

I don't usually reply to threads where someone has passed away. I generally take a wee moment to myself.
Such is the impact JH has had on Rangers and the interest in everything I have heard him say I thought a reply appropriate.

One of the biggest influences in my life was the minister of my church growing up, although I'm not all that religious.

I'm not going to bore you with my thoughts on such matters but Mr Johnny Hubbard is one gentleman that leans me towards the hope that there is something better waiting for us.

I always love videos and interviews involving the aforementioned Mr Hubbard.

GBNF Johnny.
