Police called in at St Mirren over financial irregularities

I knew of a guy a few years back who said that he was going to buy or at least represent people who wanted to buy St Mirren. He was a dodgy bastard who kept some very questionable company and had a habit of not paying bills.
Was he a big Earl by chance?

Relegation to Division III should automatically follow for non-payment of taxes.
A precedent was set some years ago and surely for the sake of sporting integrity it should be applied now!!!
The precedent was expulsion from the top flight then seek election into the bottom flight.

The money was sent to a director via a wire transfer, unfortunately it blocked the wires. An electrician will be sent to unblock the notes soonest.

ST MIRREN FOOTBALL CLUB STATEMENT

SMFC Webteam Saints News
02 December 2020

St Mirren Football Club can confirm that following the annual audit process where several historic issues were highlighted, both SMISA and Kibble representatives tabled a report with a recommended course of action. Subsequently these recommendations were approved at the November Board meeting and the Board of Directors initiated contact with relevant authorities.
These actions will facilitate that going forward all aspects of the club’s business practices are strong, compliant and transparent to all, whilst ensuring they meet the highest level possible to ensure the club’s reputation is utterly beyond reproach. The club has moved swiftly to appoint a highly reputable firm of accountants to carry out a thorough forensic review of its operations to allow for any required action to be acted upon. St Mirren football Club will co-operate fully in all aspects of the process and with all relevant authorities.
Tony Fitzpatrick, Chief Executive said: "The Club has taken these steps to ensure that we continue to operate on a sound and compliant financial basis. I would also like to put on record our appreciation of the invaluable work, continued commitment and support of our club accountant in this matter. Fans can be confident that all actions taken are in the best interest of St Mirren to ensure it continues to be a club of which our supporters can be proud."
We can reassure supporters that the club continues to operate strongly in the current pandemic climate and our club remains in a healthy and robust financial position.

Something about this doesn't really add up. They are really over egging the praise here considering that clearly somebody has A) been naughty and B) other figures have been sleeping at the wheel given that this is a 'historical' issue.

Lay down to celtic on last game of the season at Love Street.
Hearts needed a point I think at Dens Park to win the league.
They got beat 2 nil and I THINK celtic still had to win by 5 at Love Street and they won 5-0.
frank mcgarvey later admitted that he and a couple of other celtic fans in the st mirren team never tried a leg.
Something along those lines mate.
We had our supporters dance that night and that put a dampener on it.

Celtic didnt have to win by 5 goals. 2 nil would have done them.

All Hearts had to do was draw. To this day I’ve never liked Dundee. A team riddled with mentally challengeds that day and since.

Couldn't be arsed double checking mate, been trying to forget about it but I knew it was blatant.

Bill Crombie was the ref at Dens Park. He was a Hearts fan and he denied them a stonewall penalty when Sandy Clark was fouled in the box. He was probably scared to be seen favouring Hearts and incurring the wrath of Timmy.

Fitzpatrick is a cheat along with Abercrombie and McGarvey even fellow St. mirren players said so.
The line being taken about all decisions being in the best interests of the club comes across as getting an excuse in early.

first reply etc.

Also why is it ok for a childrens charity to own a football club? shouldnt they be spending the money on helping the kids rather than buying shares in a tinpot football club?
Worse than that, it's a childrens charity funded at least in part by the Scottish government. So basically we're paying our taxes to keep a football afloat? Might not be a lot of money in the grand scheme of things but it's still taxpayers money.
Can't believe the charity commission are ok with a childrens charity investing in a small Scottish football club. It isn't exactly a solid investment platform.

They've posted their accounts on Kerrydale St then. After all, they are the experts on football club finances.

i think celtic had to win by five to give them a chance if hearts won 1-0

Just seen a headline about this in the Herald but don’t know the detail.
Luckily that will keep them away from the videos of the rioting celtic fans on Sunday. Gives them a bit of time to record over the evidence with some porn or something

Let them die.

Oh dear......

Over to you SFA and SPFL.....
"The Scottish Premiership club has called in forensic accountants..........."
As Neil Doncaster acts on behalf of all the clubs I'm sure he'll be able to pass on Deloitte's phone number to Tony. Maybe if Deloitte is smart enough they would just edit the Easter report to change Dundee's name to St Mirren and pocket a wad.

i wonder if the trail will lead back to a certain person in their employ who was sacked from their previous job for.... financial irregularities

Wonder what Bill Leckie will have to say about his favourite team. After all, it was non payment of tax and NI which sent us into administration. Sporting integrity demands and all that.

Apparently the irregularities are with their sponsors and not the club. I was told by an ITK St Mirren fan I know that the sponsors are claiming money back from HMRC on monies paid to St Mirren. The problem appears to be that St Mirren haven't received anywhere near the amount the sponsors are claiming to have paid out and they have highlighted that to HMRC.
Well, that was the basic gist of the story as iterated to me.

Their training ground , for their exclusive use, was funded largely by the local council

They did a deal between Tesco , The council and themselves to sell the old stadium to the supermarket chain and the council sold them land at rick bottom price at Greenhill Rd / Ferguslie Park Avenue

The old love street was for commercial use only but lo and behold a couple of years pass and the land is rezoned by council for new housing!

It all stinks but not one journalist looked at it in any detail

Frank McGarvey a few years admitted to not trying at all that day, maybe it spread to the rest of his team mates?!.
McGarvey is not just a mentally challenged tramp but a cheating mentally challenged tramp bastard. That day will go down in infamy as one of the most shamefull episodes in Scotish football.

Tesco only bought the land to stop another Supermarket chain buying it. The land was almost completely landlocked by housing It made no sense to try and fit a supermarket and parking facilities in it, it would probably wouldn’t have received planning permission.

the Council has more vacant land than it can deal with in Ferguslie Park, even more when all the houses backing on to St Mirren stadium are demolished in the next few years.

can folk stop trying to rewrite history and stop sounding like Chris Sutton.

Hearts only had to draw at Dundee, and the league was theirs.

celtic only lost 4 away games all season that season.

st Mirren only won 3 out of their 9 home games the second of of the season, there was a reason for this they were sh!t.
