Progrès Niederkorn beat Cork City 3-2 on aggregate - Bears return to Luxembourg

Erased the games against them from my memory.

Were they a decent side or were we just so shite last time?

Booked up this morning.

Manchester - Dusseldorf return and hopefully booking on to the Glassy bus down to Luxembourg on the Thursday.

Looking forward to spending a night in Dusseldorf!

No, they were a poor side and our performances against them were a disgrace.
I said at the time that any manager surviving that blot on our history would have to have cojones of an elephant and go onto turn things around domestically.
Sadly Pedro couldn't do so.
Mind you Ally managed to lose two European byes, but neither it has to be said were just as traumatic to the support, but all three had the same things in common, poor preparation and a piss poor performance.

Steven Gerrard won't go out due to poor preparation, that we know for sure.

They were utterly dreadful and as bad as we were should still have went through. Windass and Miller both missed sitters at 2-0.

There are only 4 players out of that entire lot that would get into our current starting 11, and one of them looks like he's for the off.

Some of the names on there properly give you the fear.

Anyway, hammer this load of shite, Rangers. That's what will properly erase the memories of the Luxembourg bushes

We hit the bar 3 times from about 6 yards out in the away leg.

The home leg was probably Waghorns worst game for us. He stood marking the front post all game and balls getting put into yards of space around the penalty spot.

With the exception of Dalcio that team should’ve been more than capable of a comfortable victory in both legs. I remember them as limited but incredibly tenacious - a half fit Rossiter and a 25% fit Kranjcar probably not the best idea in the engine room. Still, that was Pedro...

The best i could say about them is they were organised. They posed zero threat, had zero creativity and there was zero chance they were winning the 2nd leg by 2 goals.

The worst result in our history. Let's put it to bed and take 10 off them.

I'm old enough to remember the utter humiliation of Berwick 1967. Along with many Bears, this was long considered to be the worst ever, but then came Progres and totally eclipsed ANY of our previous failures [and there have been many]

The only difference is that Berwick was SO unexpected, whereas Progres was less so.

Any team is capable of losing to a bunch of part-time hammer-throwers. Shit happens, lightning DOES strike on the odd occasion. The history of football tells us that. However, to get knocked out over a two-leg tie is utterly unforgivable. Suprpasses Berwick Rangers by miles as our worst result(s) in my view.
