Quality Football Writing

Given the state of the press, and what passes for football journalism here, I thought it'd be a good idea to start a thread with links to decent writing.

First site: Time on the Ball - long form pieces, here's an example (cracking read about Fergie pre-Man Utd)
http://timeontheball.net/2017/06/16/furious-fergie/

Second site: Goalden Times. Again, longer pieces, often looking at the positive sides of football across the globe - for example this piece about football in the Favelas of Rio
http://www.goaldentimes.org/life-inside-a-favela-how-football-wins-over-drug-trafficking/

Third site: These Football Times. Good piece about the fall of Jardel, though they also have a few writers who are fond of fawning over the bheasts (there's a piece on TLB on the front page just now)
https://thesefootballtimes.co/2016/...g-exploits-and-dramatic-fall-of-mario-jardel/

Fourth site: The Blizzard. You get 3 free articles each month, or it's £20 for a year's online access, or £40 for online plus hardcopy. I'll not post an example so that you can choose your own 3. I've really enjoyed what I've read and am likely to subscribe come payday.

Fifth (and final) site: In Bed With Maradona.
Like the others, it's longform journalism, not hacks with soundbites. I could waste hours on these 5 sites, and come away knowing a bit more each time. IBWM has a huge archive to trawl through too.
Here's a recent piece by them on God's brother, Michael:

Hope you enjoy some of these sites, and have other suggestions too.

I'm currently providing articles for www.rangersnews.uk - some of the writing by others is pretty good.

There are links on there for various other sites. Some of the stuff people post is amazing.

I genuinely enjoy a well-written, well-thought article. Especially when you consider that a lot of these folk (yourself included) are not professional writers - many of them are just fans with something to say, and the talent to convey it too.

Compare and contrast with the mince that is served up by the so-called journalists we have in Scotland.
