The Role
The Senior Marketing Manager is a key appointment and comes at an exciting time as the club enters a period of considerable growth and internationalisation of its marketing activities. As a senior member of the department, you will be expected to take a proactive approach, offering new ideas and solutions that constantly add value to the marketing activities of the club.
The role will be responsible for leading the marketing team and shaping the clubs strategic marketing activities with core objectives of driving fan engagement, building the Rangers brand equity and supporting exponential revenue growth arising from increased commercial activities.
The Senior Marketing Manager will work with the Commercial & Marketing Director to shape the marketing strategy and campaign delivery across a wide range of areas at the club, including International Strategy, Branding, Digital, CRM & Email Strategy, Membership, Partnerships, Ticketing & Hospitality, Soccer Schools & Events.
The role responsibilities include:
  • Creating innovative marketing campaigns across all areas of the club
  • Lead a strategic brand review of existing assets, brand guidelines and club collateral
  • Guardian of the Rangers FC brand including all associated guidelines, liaising with all departments to ensure consistent and appropriate application of brand assets
  • Implementing a robust reporting framework with continued marketing campaign performance measures
  • Launching supporter membership programmes (domestic & international)
  • Developing an integrated marketing plan for 150th Anniversary Celebrations in 2022
  • Supporting the International Strategy development
  • Driving Ticketing, Hospitality and Soccer Schools sales and expansion through cross-channel and impactful marketing activities
  • Develop and evolve the CRM strategy to grow the club’s supporter database and manage the email contact strategy
  • Supporting the Commercial team to increase activation from Official Partners in line with their sponsorship objectives
  • Managing and activating retained agencies across Creative, Media, Research & Digital. Setting strategic goals and managing collective crossagency communication & planning
  • Implementing a robust reporting framework with continued marketing campaign performance measures
  • Marketing budget management
The Candidate
The Senior Marketing Manager will be an experienced marketing professional, educated to degree level or equivalent and have a proven track record of delivering ground-breaking marketing campaigns for a rights holder, blue-chip brand or leading marketing agency, and ideally within the sports industry.
The candidate attributes will include:
  • At least four years relevant marketing experience, ideally within the sports industry
  • Strong people management skills with an ability to lead and build a world-class marketing team
  • A creative flair and a continued desire to propose new ideas (even when operating in a fast-paced environment with high demands on marketing output)
  • An ability to build impactful and measurable campaigns underpinned on market-data & business intelligence
  • A strong strategic mind-set and ability to retain the ‘bigger picture’ view of the club when planning campaigns across multiple business units
  • Being able to perform cross-functionally across Ticketing, Digital (including Rangers TV), Media, Hospitality, Soccer Schools, Commercial & Events teams, building strong relationships and understanding the commercial drivers of each business unit
  • Demonstrate a clear understanding for budgets and tracking business ROI
  • Must be flexible to work outside core office hours and to travel if required. Must be well-connected and have strong knowledge of the football sector
The candidate should be able to demonstrate:
  • An ability to work independently and take considered decisions in the best interests of Rangers Football Club
  • A pro-active approach with close attention to detail and an ability to ensure the efficient delivery of marketing campaigns in a fast-paced environment
  • An analytic eye with a flair for building marketing campaigns that are informed by fan insight and data
  • A strong appreciation for digital and social media marketing
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritise work
  • A team-player attitude as your job will involve many stakeholders
  • Very clear communication and presentation skills

whenever i see things like this i don't trust the club to recruit well enough. maybe the new commercial director (who is apparently doing alright and there's none of the usual rumours about) will oversee this role/be involved in recruiting for it. especially seeing that they will be tasked with launching the membership scheme - we can't afford for a thing as big as that to flop.
 
The role has probably all ready been earmarked for someone however I think it is law that the job still needs to be advertised.

There’ll be no one in the club earmarked for this, I would imagine.
