The most important thing is it’s good experience for them and defeat will make them stronger going forward. It would have been nice for them to get through to the next round but least they got further than the scum. :))

Rangers passed well but just seemed to lack a cutting edge upfront and despite plenty of possession never really troubled the Ayr GK.
Ayr's strength and experience were the main difference to be honest although they were very dangerous at set-pieces and on the break too.

Very impressed by Charlie Lindsay. Despite being at least a foot smaller than most of the Ayr team he coped well. Strong, quick and dynamic with an eye for a pass. Quite excited about this player.

Highlights now up on RTV from last night. From them it didn't look like we created much and the Ayr 2nd goal is a really good free kick. Don't think Wright covers himself in glory for the 3rd but looks like Ayr were well worth the win based on them.

He was excellent last night, especially in the first half. He passes the ball so quickly. Be great to see how he develops.
