I was impressed with Middleton too tonight. Thought he worked hard to get into some good areas for crosses and looked fairly comfortable defensively in a relatively new position for him.

He is, which is why I said a relatively new position for him, but he's got very limited game-time there. Thought he never looked out of place there and with Bassey potentially having to fill in at CB it gives us a little bit more depth

Yes. He’s been one of the best of the youths for a number of years now

The lad looked good. Great to see young players get their rewards. Hopefully a star of the future.

By all accounts King seems to be the one attracting most excitement, however the two positions in football where it's most difficult to make it at a young age are goalkeeper and centre back. In that respect we may need to wait some time to see him blooded in his preferred position. Richard Gough, and Alex McLeish being two very obvious examples of outstanding Scottish CB's who had to bide their time in that respect.
