Rangers fans sing anti tartan army song

Tuesday night was the first time in my life I’ve ever passionately cheered England scoring against Scotland, and that’s coming from someone who followed Scotland fervently in the 70’s and 80’s and proudly went to the World Cup in 1990. I can’t believe my uncontrollable gut feeling has turned so much against something I once supported passionately and I can only guess it stems from my absolute hatred of the SNP and all it’s supporters.

Couldn’t agree more Cloughie. My first Scotland -England game was Hampden 1964, as I’ve said on other threads. Was at Wembley in 77, also the 5-1 game in 75 when the Scotland fans sang “We’ll support you up to 4” instead of “evermore”. Humour, camaraderie, many Bears in the support.

A bit different now, sadly.

Some of the comments on that thread would make you sick. Especially the one at the bottom here.

That really is absolutely disgusting. Chants at football matches are mostly just banter and the Tartan Army one today is no different. This kind of comment though is the sign of someone being a real piece of work.

Absolute scum.

There’s another equally disgusting comment on his profile on 30th August.

I feel exactly the same way mate. Used to stand in the Rangers end and the north enclosure before Hampden was refurbished singing "dirty Eng/ish bast*@rds" with the best of them. I think I even started a rendition of that little ditty once! I regret doing that now and I can't ever see me doing it again. Nowadays it's an embarrassment being a Scotland supporter. All thanks to the SNP/Green separatist, republican, anti-Unionist, garbage that they are trying to force down our throats. Like you, I'd rather cheer for England. At least they recognise the value of the Union. Long may that continue and long may Scotland remain an integral part of the Union.

I knew I was in the wrong end at Hampden when Paul Scholes scored 2 against Scotland.
The chanting of ‘Argentina’ made my blood boil. I knew then I was finished with going to any Scotland match at any time.
The tartan army are not my people. I utterly despise them. They’ve literally become the sporting wing of the SNP.
I feel more culturally and politically aligned with England supporters.
God Save The King

I once many years ago wouldn’t have missed a Scotland game however the turning point was the World Cup in France when a new breed of supporters emerged who were by and large a bunch of fuds and anti Rangers
Later when Walter chucked the national team job to follow his heart the anti Rangers sentiment grew followed by the haters and the NATs combining to jump on the independence bandwagon and use the National team as their vehicle to promote their dream
I now couldn’t give a second thought to How Scotland do and detest seeing any Rangers player playing in the national side

So in essence the utter Fannie’s in the tartan army have got you to do exactly what they wanted in the first place.

It surprises me how many people can be so easily manipulated.

The SNP and their followers have hijacked everything but the scumbags will never get me to stop supporting my country , why should we?

Scottish, British and proud.

Letting these pricks decide whether or not I can cheer on the national side at football, rugby, anything, isn’t something I’ll be doing.

Fkn embarrassing arseholes, (calm doon, I mean the ta). Sat with mixed company in spain. Scots, english, welsh, all enjoying a drink looking forward to the "friendly" based on historical football history.

It was Depressing, shameful.

You know, you can go in to the twa dugs in Ayr, and ex-record reporter bob shields will have a beer and blether about football/anything with impartiality, and loves Scotland.

Then I know some some of these bitter ta bams who have never been out of Ayr and are stuck to telling the world how bad the english are. The kunts have never even sooked a ice cream in Blackpool or Troon.

Self pity, feeling a need to be heard loners.
