All older Bears may well remember these great little handbooks.

Apologies if you find some difficult to read, I did try my best.

Away to fill my glass and have a smoke.

More to follow...
Thanks so much for bringing back great memories. The two things that whetted the appetite for a new season was the handbook coming out and a pre- season game not long before the first match. It was usually the first team against Rangers Reserves. The big team wore the usual blue jerseys while the reserves wore a butcher striped blue and white strip. Crowds of around 25000 were not unusual for this fixture.

What season was the last one?
Would there be the demand to bring it back? I for one would buy it (always did before), sometimes it’s just easier/better to read a proper book than something on a computer/tablet. Maybe something the SLO could look into and assess demand.

1977, I asked about bringing hem back about ten years ago and was told their was no demand for them ???

I wonder if the club could use their email database to assess the demand for this. I know that expressions of interest do not always translate into action i.e. a purchase, but many supporters still buy programmes, surely if even a percentage of these supporters buy the wee blue book it would make it worthwhile to produce once every season.

I have them right up until the 1989-90 season, if I recall there was no issue for the 1988- 89 season. I also have wee blue books for the 2006-07 and 07-08 season, I think these were given along with your season ticket

Are they the same format as the original ones ?
Can you post a picture of them

Robert the issues up until 89-90 season are the same format, there was no issue for 88-89. If you Google a flickr search for them you will see all the front covers - I have a spare of 89- 90 which I would be happy to donate to you- my techie skills are awful

I fondly remember these from my younger days in the late 50s and early to mid 60s, and even early 70s. Essential purchase in those days.
Sadly numerous house moves have meant that they are no longer part of my memorabilia.

Thanks to OP for bringing back my youth!!

The last season of the "threads" on the cover was 1973-74 - it started 1961- 62 - will check my earlier issues but I think most of the 50s and 40s issues were cardboard covers

I've been trying to find my collection after the missus pit everything away safely while decorating.
Needless to say she can't remember what box or where she safely put them.Typical.

As posted 1989-90 was the last one on an annual basis with exception of 1988-89 which I believe it was withdrawn at the minute. These books date to the early 1900s if not pre 1900

Since 1989/90 there has been 3 others 1996-97, 2006-07 & 2007-08 all smae sze as the ones post above but not the same design on the cover

Sorry I'm totally mixed up. Ours run from 1926 / 27 to 1989/90 and we have 60 Books in total.
Infact I think we are the advert on one of the back pages:oops::rolleyes:
