Celtic are lining up a move to sign Bayern Munich defender Thomas Isherwood this summer, Football Insider sources understand. Isherwood, 20, has emerged on Celtic’s radar with scouts from the Scottish club watching him in action on several occasions this season. Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers is looking to strengthen his defensive options this summer with Jozo Simunovic and Erik Sviatchenko expected to move on at the end of the season. Rodgers sees Sweden Under-19 international Isherwood as someone with huge potential who could develop into a top-class player.

So, what is the background on Isherwood you ask?

Bayern Munich beat a host of clubs, including Manchester City to sign Isherwood from Swedish club IF Bromma in 2015. The rising star has yet to make his debut for Bayern’s first-team, but has impressed for Bayern’s reserves in the Regionalliga. Isherwood has just a year to run on his current contract at Bayern and Celtic are ready to test the German club’s resolve to hang onto him by making a swoop in the forthcoming window.

If the guy is on a free and we still have a decent budget then I’d be hoping that this lad was just for adding depth to an area that’s as bare a bald man’s head.
 
Guy with a promising background. Can't be any harm if we are looking at him as a reserve with a view to becoming a first team player ala Bates.

Badstuber is slower than Bruno Alves, and that takes some doing

Coupled with the fact he’s never fit, was constantly injured with bayern before he joined Stuttgart
 
We missed the boat with Liam Lindsay when he left Thistle who has gone on to make a name for himself down South.

Berra at Hearts has also been the best defender in the league since coming back to Scotland and he wouldn't have cost the earth either.

There’s every chance we could be looking to bring him in as our fourth-choice CB.
Doesn’t sound like he’d be a first pick.
 
Our best Centre Half on the books at the moment was purchased from Raith Rovers!

Agreed, that said Alves came with a reputation as a tough bastard.
 
FFS, just a few weeks ago Rocksport was the saviour of Rangers fans ears - a great listen, with a presenter people missed when the show went off the air recently for a time.

Now he's a bawbag! o_O
