RANGERS are just seven points away from their first title glory in a decade.

The runaway Premiership leaders are edging closer to the league crown with every passing game.

Steven Gerrard's Gers thumped Dundee United at Ibrox yesterday afternoon 4-1, thanks to goals from Ianis Hagi, Ryan Kent, Joe Aribo and Alfredo Morelos.

This coupled with Celtic's shock defeat away to Ross County ensured that the Ibrox side could rock up to Parkhead for this season's third Old Firm derby as champions.

The Gers lead their arch rivals at the top of the table by a whopping 18 points.

Victory over Livingston and St Mirren coupled up with dropped points from the Hoops against either Aberdeen or Dundee United would see the Light Blues claim their first title triumph in a decade ahead of the derby showdown on March 21.

Rangers remain undefeated in the league and they've only conceded two goals at Ibrox all campaign.

And while the only stat that matters to the club's fans is the number of titles next to their name, another interesting fact has arisen.

The Gers' sensational form means they have the SECOND biggest points lead in all of Europe's 43 top active leagues, thanks to their enormous advantage over the Hoops.

Only Budućnost Podgorica of the Montenegrin top flight have a greater lead over their closest title rivals, as they sit 19 points clear of Sutjeska.

In Switzerland, the Gers' former Europa League foes Young Boys also boast an 18-point advantage over FC Basel - although, Gerrard's side have scored more goals.

Ferencvaros also have an impressive lead in the OTP Bank Liga in Hungary, with a 14-point lead over Puskas FC

Olympiacos and Club Brugge hold 12-point advantages in Greece and Belgium respectively.

In Europe's 'top five' divisions, Manchester City boast the biggest lead - as Pep's men romp to the EPL title, leading Manchester United by ten.

In Serie A, Inter lead city rivals AC Milan by a slender four points, while in Spain and France, Atletico Madrid and Lille lead the way by only three points

Bayern Munich are in their usual position at the summit of the Bundesliga, however, RB Leipzig are hot on their tails, just two points behind.

A number of top flight leagues in Europe are not active at the moment, including the League of Ireland, the Croatian First league and Allsvenskan

Journalism these days is looking at the league tables on Futbol24?
To be fair it is probably looking at football fans on football forums looking at league tables on Futbol24.

Scottish football journalists are like 4 places removed from the origin on "stories" now.
