Rangers on FM 2020

I've bought this couple of days ago. 1st time in maybe decades. Used to love it.

I cant seem to bid on players from other countries. Is this something you need to select at beginning of game? To include what countries are involved? I kind of remember the older games were like that.

As others have mentioned, takes a lot longer than older games.

Willl give it a bash though.

I’ve got a Leicester & BvB save going but I can’t seem to get into them as yet.

Considering a middling championship club & try and stabilise them in EPL and beyond.

I started a new game because I had the Leicester job, just didn't get into it at all, so tried something different from usual, and got a good save going now

You should be able to bid on players from any league but depending on what leagues you loaded & which size of database, some might not be there?

I spent a good 12 months + away from it but got the bug for it again. No better time to either ...

I’m sure there’s a bigger FM 2020 thread in the lounge but can’t get in there as yet ... if anyone is keen for a network game can let me know. Tried this with mates with random teams & leagues and it’s always challenging.

I'm gonna log on to it tomorrow and check again. It never gave option what leagues to add. Well not that I noticed anyway.

I only noticed when starting to search for some of the players posters have mentioned on here. Only seems to have Scottish and English based players.

Think you can do quick setup or advanced. Need to click advanced to select which leagues etc otherwise it probably only loaded relevant leagues (I.e England if you selected Rangers in Scotland etc)

Hope this helps.

That’s me bought the mobile version 8.99 on my iPad . Anyone got any tips before I start up ? Haven’t played this game since CM 01/02 , just want to get the basics right with leagues etc before I’m up and running . Thinking of going Rangers obviously but also used to like taking a smaller club to glory through the divisions

Thanks. Will just start another one.

Only played 1 friendly.

Anyone got any good players for the mobile version ?? Doesn't have the same amount of players as the PC one

I’m guessing the database is significantly smaller?

Rhian Brewster, Harvey Elliott & Curtis Jones are all great guys to loan from Liverpool if possible.

Decent SPFL guys like Hladky, Turnbull, Campbell, Ferguson will add to what you already have.

I would recommend trying to nurture the youths (if they’re there?)

Hogarth, Lowry, Kelly, Mebude, Young-Coombes, Ritchie-Hosler, McPake are all first teamers potentially. Sooner you can expose them to senior games the better.

Downloaded it for mobile. Utter shite. Can't find any of the wonderkids. Requested refund.

Anyone know of a cheap laptop that'll play the real thing? :D

Just got sacked as Rangers manager 1 game from the end of my first season ! Ragin . I had tied up Hagi and a few other promising players as well for season 2 . Draws killed me I had 14 draws in the spl

Anybody got any good Alfie replacements?
Dejan Joveljic, 21 y/o Serbian, plays for Frankfurt I think, had him in my Ajax save

Insane for me in any Gegenpress formation as a complete/advanced forward

At full potential he broke 30 Eredivisie goals 3 seasons in a row, took my average Ajax team to a CL final as top goalscorer and won European Golden Boot twice

On another note, I had Andy Dallas in my Peterborough team n he was absolute quality, 25 goals in the Championship and got me to the prem, should never have let him go

The modern manager games are too technical for me, takes ages to sort team Etc!

Which is part of the reason why I downloaded champ man 01/02 this week instead! It's every bit as addictive 19years on.

Wuilker Fariñez - a 21 year old goalkeeper - dirt cheap and is world class and also Gonzalo Montiel - good replacment for tav - argentina international and can be picked up for less then 10mill

Anyone recommned a really good centre mid player?

Got Pietro Pellegri on loan for 2yrs to replace Alfie, Jones, Kent & aribo are tearing it up for me, Kane Ritchie-Hosler/Kai/Dapo/McPake/Patterson all making great progress.

Picked up Lewis Baker from Chelsea for £3mil, Kelleher (Liverpool) GK cover £700k

Aleix Garcia for free (Man City), Freddy Woodman free (Newcastle)

Troy Parrott (Spurs ) & Ben Wooburn (Liverpool) both on loan as atk cover

Hickey (Hearts) £2mil brilliant buy imo, Cochrane (Hearts) £200k tremendous cover and progressing well.

Biggest outlay is £14mil for Matvienko as 1st choice CB & £8mil for Jayden Bogle as Tav replacement as soon as his transfer goes through

For Rangers?

I bought Renato Tapia in my first season as he was listed, he’s far too good for the SPFL. Likewise Lovro Majer, he’s brilliant in a Mezzala or Roaming playmaker role.

Trincao can be bought for around a million at the start of the game, like in real life hes a cracking player. Hickey from Hearts is also a brilliant signing at the start. Abel Ruiz you can get on loan from Barca. Ended up buying him outright second season after buying the editor lol.

Halfway through season 3. Going for 3 in a row and back to back trebles. Reasonably decent in Europe too. Starting 11 at the minute:

pereira
Tav
Goldson
Katic
Barisic
Mctominay
Aribo
Jack
Hagi/H.Wilson
Kent
Morelos

4-3-3 wide gegenpress. Play the 2 wingers as inside forwards though. Have a good young backup too. Signed a young lad Barry from Villa as a back up to Alfredo. Lethal in front of goal.

hagi refused to sign for me

Harry Wilson I signed on 2 season long loans. Iv tried to keep as many of our current players as I could just to see how far I could actually take them. Jones from the bench is a very effective inside forward off the left. Iv signed a couple of fullbacks on loan as backup too. The CL cash gives u a decent sized pot to spend. Obv the likes of mcgregor and Davis retire. And at the start I sold arfield to fund Hagi. Hagi hasn’t improved that much in the 2 seasons to be fair.

Game and Argos are selling it for £20 but you would need to wait on delivery

Its £27 for a digital copy

Cheers mate

Try changing attacking tactics to overload during the game when looking to win and most of the time I managed to grab a goal or two.

Turnbull is a must. One of the best midfield goalscorers I’ve had. Punched way above his weight wining POTY when I had a CL contender side. Does the business in the league

I’ve just picked him up for 500k half way through my second season...

Had always been reluctant to sign him as his pace was only 7.

Can’t fit him in to my midfield as Jack, Aribo, Kenny McLean & Lewis Ferguson are all rotating so I’ll stick him out on loan for 6 months.

His pace holds him back in Europe but if you have industrial midfielders supporting him in either the AP/Mez or even DLP he will bang them in. Great penalty taker as well

The only thing is that I am basing it off of his pre-January update stats but given his injury I doubt they have changed much

Won the treble in my first season & doing well domestically in my second season...

Terrible performance in CL though & finished last in group.

Sold Tav for £30m & replaced him with Nathaniel Clyne on a free.

I've invested most of that in a load youngsters with high potential & put the majority out on loan.

I think i overestimate/over think the game at times though as i always like to do a Walter Smith & have a core of Rangers fans/British players & coaches.

I've brought in Nathaniel Clyne, Liam Lyndsay, Scott Mckenna, Barry Douglas, Kenny McLean (loan), David Turnbull, Lewis Ferguson, Sam Cosgrove (loan) & Mason Greenwood (loan) to compliment my foreign signings

You do need a core of homegrown club & nation players for the EL/CL though, so you’re doing the right thing.

I love the game & don't have many complaints, but one thing that frustrates me is how hard it is to loan out foreign wonderkids to domestic clubs to help them settle in Scotland & get them homegrown status.

Even offering them wage free doesn't seem to work when targeting domestic clubs.

Definitely mate...

Where I take it too far though is bypassing really good coaches with their Continental Pro license in favor of Jimmy, Nic, Super Ally, Dado Prso, Big Jig & Terry Butcher because I think they'd be good to have around the training ground :))

In my head Jimmy Bell is still cutting about too.

Ive got Defoe as my reserves manager, he’s got some nice stats though.

Have you tried changing their wage to 0% as you mentioned, and making them a regular starter or squad player instead of key player? Might make a difference.

If they’re excellent they’ll get the games anyway.

I'll give that a bash thanks...

It's frustrating as there's always an abundance of foreign clubs looking to take them on loan as well as pay their wages, but I'd rather pay their wages myself & make them home grown.

I also have Thistle as my feeder club, but the really good youngsters don't want to drop to the championship.

Once the youth/training facilities are state of the art they develop well in the reserves. Just get the best coaches you can get and make sure they’re specialising to at least 4 stars in each category.
