I know, I know, it’s Transfermarkt, but it’s interesting to track the value of our squad versus the mutants across the city over the last few years;

17/18:

Rangers - £26.06m
Celtic - £62.15m

18/19:

Rangers - £45.43
Celtic - £78.71m

19/20:

Rangers - £41.81m
Celtic - £103.66m

20/21:

Rangers - £78.8m
Celtic - £72.14m

It is also worth noting that over the last few years, Celtic’s squad value has been highly inflated in loan signings - there is actually £10m of value due to drop off from Celtic’s figure as Kenny and Laxalt are still shown as in their squad.

I know Transfermarkt isn’t by any means an accurate figure for sales value, but it shows the growth of the Rangers squad and the incredible drop in quality of theirs, with us overtaking them, isn’t just a one-off or a bit of luck. Long may that trend continue.

Agree, Transfermarkt valuations are pulled out of thin air. But it's still an independent assessment of how a neutral perceives the relative values of our squad.

It's only a couple of years since our squad value was closer in value to Hearts and Kilmarnock than to Celtic.
 
19/20

That's a £70m swing in our favour over less than 2 years?

This makes me very happy.

Add to that the ridiculous amounts of money being spent by FC Theme Pub on servicing that squad and the higher percentage of income being squandered on player costs, and no wonder they crashed so spectacularly.

It'll take more than a few months to make that right.
 
You really have to applaud the traction we have made in this space in a short period of time - would be interesting to see the breakdown of the tims squad coz the majority of their value I believe has decreased due to a couple of star man running their contacts down

This time next year if we keep progressg the way we are and big ange goes the way we all hope the 17/18 stat might be flipped on its head

Thats frightening reading that squad no wonder we were so far behind in value at that time.

The good thing is the scum still think our current players aren't any better and last season was just a blip all down to COVID.

Very few players worth over a million in there on their ratings.

How can it be. TurnBULL is worth £40m on his own.
 
We finished 25pts above them. That's worth a lot more than 6.66m.
I'd like to have seen their valuations at the very start of the season.
