While I get the point here, LB is not a position we seem to be blessed with youths pushing for starts. For me, recycling a portion of Barisic’s wage into a younger, cheaper project with (presumably) room for growth is a sensible moveIt's not financially feasible to have two players fighting for each outfield position. We need to give our youth a chance.
Go for it
I was being sarcastic.
He is moving to Feyenoord in the summer. It was either Jefte or Smal we were interested in replacing Borna
We signed Olivier Bernard out of nowhere. It’s brilliant when we sign a player out of nowhere.
I didn’t realise this was a bump thread, what’s the story here, have we bought this new guy?Interesting to see what happens with this guy in the summer.
Is Nowhere a suburb of some Brazilian city ?It’s brilliant when we sign a player out of nowhere.
I agree but our youth system isn't producing enough boys who are "ready" for first team football. It's not financially feasible to have two players fighting for each outfield position. We need to give our youth a chance.
Not surprising because he looks like a winger at left back. Can’t have it all or he wouldn’t be coming to us (if he does).Ball watches, switches off defensively according to one of them.
If the fees people seemed to think were obtainable for Yilmaz get offered in the summer (£5mil plus) and we're picking up Jefte for f all, get another plus Jefte in with Ridvan and Borna outI still think it's possible Ridvan leaves in the summer, meaning we'd need two left backs.
Yes, I know Borna is off too, but I could still see us cashing in on Ridvan if the right offer comes in
Not saying we are desperate to sell, but we are already about £10m on loans to buy both obligated and options, could still see it happening.
People seem to be getting confused about January & who we were replacing - there was never a question of Borna going in January, Ridvan had one foot out the door, if we got Jefte, it's Ridvan who would've been gone.
So might not be a wild notion that we are going for two LBs in the summer
Na, it's where Thor went to smelt a new hammerIs Nowhere a suburb of some Brazilian city ?
I completely agree. If the fees people seemed to think we're obtainable for Yilmaz get offered in the summer (£5mil plus) and we're picking up Jefte for f all, get another plus Jefte in with Ridvan and Borna out
That'd fantastic money for a full back, for our player trading model, for a guy who has had a very short purple patch
I'm sure I've read similar. Did he not go awol for a time?I'm sure I've read reports that his form has been abysmal since the move to us collapsed. Maybe understandable, but not what you want to read.

Plus the fact he's only 20, so I'm sure there's plenty scope for growth and development. Not too many have reached their full potential at that age!Not surprising because he looks like a winger at left back. Can’t have it all or he wouldn’t be coming to us (if he does).
Yep it’s a crazy claim to ask of a player of his status .Plus the fact he's only 20, so I'm sure there's plenty scope for growth and development. Not too many have reached their full potential at that age!
I think you’re vastly under rating the Cypriot league. Very decent standard with more than a couple of teams who would beat the rest of our own SPFL.I agree but our youth system isn't producing enough boys who are "ready" for first team football.
Motherwell had Bailey Rice and Lennon Miller. Both bluenoses.
One fulfilled his and families dream by signing for Rangers on a decent wage for a 16yo and was sniffing about the first team for a while.
The other stayed at Motherwell and has been playing first team football.
Arguably, Miller is ahead of Rice in his development now.
Conversely, we've seen Lewis Mayo make impressive cameos for Rangers and not get a chance, now he's been tipped for Scotland caps by McInnes due to his performances at club level.
Ideally these guys were good enough but they only improve with first team football and even then, some dont at all (see Lowry for eg)
Jefte at 20yo, looks really impressive from what I've seen though he's 'only' playing in Cyprus so remains to be seen how he develops.
And if Ridvan keeps playing well, then that can only be a good thing for the Club.
Timing is everything. We need to cash in on those with value at the correct time.Yilmaz on his day is a very special player. He looks to have finally settled in at Rangers and is performing at a high level. I would keep him for another season and look to sell for over £15million.
I'm genuinely not, I am merely pointing out that it's not one of the top leagues in Europe.I think you’re vastly under rating the Cypriot league. Very decent standard with more than a couple of teams who would beat the rest of our own SPFL.
£5m for Yilmaz in the summer? Fantastic money?
We really do undervalue our players.
Yeah, I completely get the boy's disappointment, but I'd be looking elsewhere.I'm sure I've read similar. Did he not go awol for a time?

Anything under £10m is not fantastic money for Yilmaz
Agree, I've never seen the boy play before so couldn't say if he's any good or not.Yeah, I completely get the boy's disappointment, but I'd be looking elsewhere.
They are third in their league. Plenty of money was pumped into that league.I'm genuinely not, I am merely pointing out that it's not one of the top leagues in Europe.
But I was impressed with Aris even though we were never turned up in either game.
One of those ones where the desperation could be indicative of him thinking he won't get a chance like this again.Agree, I've never seen the boy play before so couldn't say if he's any good or not.
If the reports are true what it does suggest is a sign of petulance and lack of professionalism.
Nah. It's an alien moon where I think Thanos threw his daughter off a cliff to get the time stone. Is Nowhere a suburb of some Brazilian city ?
There's nothing wrong with a huge wage bill when you're being successful .It's when you are not successful it's a worry or absurd as you say. If we bring in the right players then the high wages which can't really be avoided when seeking quality are justified with financial gain on success. I'm sure our new manager knows his stuff , and we will benefit from his input .I completely agree.
Said on a few threads that I hope we don't replace every penny of wages freed up in the summer - our wagebill is absurd.
Deals like this could allow us to.both reduce the wagebill.and bring in some high potential players
And one that beat us this season!I think you’re vastly under rating the Cypriot league. Very decent standard with more than a couple of teams who would beat the rest of our own SPFL.
I agree. That’s why I think one full season at left back would see his value shoot up.Timing is everything. We need to cash in on those with value at the correct time.
Butland for example. I'm sure he's a big part of our future...well the cash we get when we sell him will shape that future.
Yilmaz, Raskin, Cantwell...all have big £ signs on them. Just a question of when we sell them. Timing as we all know is something we have been poor at... We can't keep missing the boat ala Kent, Morelos, Barasic.
That would make Yilmaz the second most expensive sale in our entire historyYilmaz on his day is a very special player. He looks to have finally settled in at Rangers and is performing at a high level. I would keep him for another season and look to sell for over £15million.
I do agree....but remember last year's figures included CL group stage money (I think?)There's nothing wrong with a huge wage bill when you're being successful .It's when you are not successful it's a worry or absurd as you say. After another left back? That would make Yilmaz the second most expensive sale in our entire history
He’s certainly improved under Clement, but I really think many are guilty of overblowing just how much.
They deserved those results imo and i don’t accept we had more in us I just feel they had a game type to undo us and zoom in on our weaknesses .I'm genuinely not, I am merely pointing out that it's not one of the top leagues in Europe.
But I was impressed with Aris even though we were never turned up in either game.
Cochrane is English.I will probably get hammered here with negativity lol but putting my head on the block, with this scenario of many new signings coming in there still has to be a quota for Europe to Scottish players, one player who I have watched many times on Hearts TV has been Alex Cochrane I have been impressed with his performances. So many times we have been snobs I have to say concerning Scottish players slipping through our fingers like Hickey, Doig, Shankland, and Ferguson to mention a few, I think Cochrane would make a good addition for backup to Ridvan
well feck me head been chopped off lol still like the lad thoughCochrane is English.
Hearts have quoted £2m for him.well feck me head been chopped off lol still like the lad though
Should have checked schoolboy error, Riquelme
I think he is a pretty good player agree but not seen enough to know if he would be suited to us . The type who could be shortlisted when OoC which is Summer 2025 .I will probably get hammered here with negativity lol but putting my head on the block, with this scenario of many new signings coming in there still has to be a quota for Europe to Scottish players, one player who I have watched many times on Hearts TV has been Alex Cochrane I have been impressed with his performances. It's why we have to make more effort to loan out players to premiership teams. Strengths the player, and they can play against the smellies.I agree but our youth system isn't producing enough boys who are "ready" for first team football.
