I'll be honest, even though I went to the majority of games then I gave this one a miss.

Was the Robertson in the team Dougie Robertson who went to Morton?

I recall there was a sort of cultural exchange which saw some of the Chinese party man the pie stalls. I bought some chips and took them back to complain about the quality. “These chips taste rubbery”, I told the Chinaman. “Thank you very much” he replied.
The Chinese pie stall guy said to me “the price has gone up from £1 to £1.20” , I said “Fluctuations?”, he got really pissed off “and Fluck to you Europeans as well!”

Funny thing is I was at the game, but for years thought it was 2-0, here it is 3-1. Must have fallen asleep and missed a couple of goals.

My memory of the game was the stadium announcer taking 10 minutes reading out the Chinese team pausing and stuttering all the way through. Being in the east enclosure waving at him as he tried. To be fair he was laughing.

Standards are dropping. 19 posts and no mention of them conceding 3 goals because we exploited a chink in their defence?

The headline and the caption "referee Ken Hope and Robert Prytz arent ordering a Chinese meal" is better journalism than anything the Scottish media has put out in the last 10 years

I’d love to say I remember this game, I was at it, but I don’t remember much about it other than it was a poor crowd. To be fair though there were lots of poor attendances in that era.

The Robertson talked about was Doug Robertson I believe, who played a few games for us.

I remember the stadium announcer trying to read out the Chinese team - blokes names beginning with X. He obviously didn’t get in any practise beforehand

I cannot even remember this game and I'd have been 30 at the time.Remember games previous to this one no bother.

i'm sure this was made into a testimonial match for billy davies.
anyone confirm?
He’d have been the first Rangers player to be given a testimonial for leaving school if that was the case. Think Davies was 17 or 18 at the time of this game.

You might be thinking of a game against New Zealand which doubled as a testimonial for 80s bit part player Billy Mackay who retired prematurely through injury
