I'm not keen on Butland being captain. While I don't place a huge deal of importance on the actual armband and believe there should be several leaders in a side, I'm not sure what Butland has done to show that he is a "captain."
Would prefer it to be a centre back or a centre mid really.

It doesn't appear to be entirely nonsense. The DR's original story seemed to suggest Tav has been stripped of the captaincy but they're now saying it will only be if he leaves.
Think it's pretty clear now Clement is trying to move him on.
Damage has been done, the support is now split on Tav leaving / staying but being stripped of the captaincy.

I think it more likely they are hinting at him leaving based on unsubstantiated rumours (to generate clicks) and then putting 2 and 2 together and getting butland as captain. They know it may well come true but even if it doesn’t, it will generate clicks.

Tavernier is the only player from the last few years that will get the adulation he deserves when he leaves. He has been a great servant and at times carried the team. Trouble is, at Rangers you can't have a single player carrying a team. It doesn't win you enough trophies as we've seen.

£21 Million was the sum mentioned and the poster was apparently an ITK as he predicted we were going to sign Butland under Beale. A few posters claimed he was genuine.
I remember him being quite adamant the deal (£21M) was done. Not heard a lot from him since.
A new one ideally. If we don't sign anyone suitable then I'd go Butland.
