Records player valuation ours vs theirs

I'm going to say it...

The reason the record write this shit is because Rangers fans no longer read the paper. Their main audience is celtic fans. Thus, they will write stories that sell more papers to them.

I don't really have a solution to this but the more we boycot and ban the likes of the BBC, The DR and The Sun, the more they'll pander to timmy.

Vicious circle.

Exactly

Allan McGregor

At 37 the brilliant keeper is at an age where a handsome fee is impossible.

Like fellow elder statesmen Steven Davis, the goalie's value far outweighs any fee that could realistically come in.

Estimated Value: £200,000

Transfermrkt value: £675,000

Wes Foderingham

The back-up keeper was once rated around the £2m mark but after two seasons of little first team action and with a contract expiring in a few months, his value has has heavily diminished.

The 29-year-old has rarely let his club down and would be a good acquisition for a suitor in the summer.

Estimated Value : £200,000

Transfermrkt value: £450,000

Borna Barisic

The left-back has two and a half years left on his deal and has been one of the top performers this season.

His marauding performances in the Europa League have not gone unnoticed by European scouts with Serie A giants Roma showing interest.

Rangers have a strong hand to ask for a serious wedge for the Croatia international who is first pick for the World Cup finalists.

Estimated Value : £9,000,000

Transfermrkt value: £1,580,000

Andy Halliday

The man who grew-up a stone's throw from the front door of Ibrox has found games hard to come by this term and Rangers would surely listen to offers for the versatile midfielder. His contract is up in the summer.

Estimated Value : £100,000

Transfermrkt value: £675,000

Jon Flanagan

(Image: SNS Group)

Another whose contract is due to expire at the end of the season, the 27-year-old full-back is a useful squad player but time will tell if his deal is renewed after talented kid Nathan Paterson has started to impress in the academy.

Estimated Value : £500,000

Transfermrkt value: £1,350,000

James Tavernier

The club captain is a force to be reckoned with and solidly the best right-back in the country.

He is in the peak of his career at 28 and only a significant bid would entice Rangers to part with a player that has contributed so much to their play in the Gerrard years.

Replicating Tavernier's assists from right-back would be a near impossible task for sporting director Ross Wilson.

Estimated Value : £8,000,000

Transfermrkt value: £5,400,000

Niko Katic

The Croat is young, aggressive and prepared to put his head where it hurts.

He is a throw-back amongst modern defenders who, by and large, tend to look more comfortable on the ball than doing the dirty work.

With international caps in the offing for Croatia it appears that Gerrard has an extremely valuable asset on his hands that will only increase in worth as he gains additional experience.

Estimated Value : £4,000,000

Transfermrkt value: £1,800,000

Connor Goldson

The big defender arrived from Brighton for £3m and has only increased his value with 18 months of assured performances at the heart of the Ibrox defence.

A natural leader and communicator he is also a consistent and calming presence at the back.

He has proved himself to be a robust competitor who stands up to the rigours of a 60 game season and at 27 is heading towards his peak.

Estimated Value : £4,500,000

Transfermrkt value: 2,930,000

Filip Helander

(Image: Getty Images)

The Swedish defender has hardly put a foot wrong since his arrival and has kept Katic out of the team after what was initially a slow start to life in Govan.

Injury has interrupted his season but Rangers will be happy with the business done in getting the player out of Bologna for £3.5m and a long-term deal means his value will have only gone up.

Estimated Value : £4,000,000

Transfermrkt value: £1,800,000

George Edmundson

The young defender has had little opportunity but looked impressive when given an outing.

The club will hope he can be a long term successor to Connor Goldson as he adapts to life at a huge club.

Estimated Value : £1,000,000

Transfermrkt value: £630,000

Ryan Jack

Arguably the key player in the Gerrard midfield, Jack would not depart on the cheap after signing a deal until 2023 in recent months.

An on-pitch general who has added multiple dimensions to his overall game under the current management team, Rangers should look to Stuart Armstrong's £7m move to Southampton as a starting price if the Aberdonian wishes to test his mettle in another environment at some stage.

Estimated Value : £7,000,000

Transfermrkt value: £1,350,000

Steven Davis

(Image: SNS Group)

The Ibrox midfield star is 35 and thus carries little transfer value despite his obvious quality and importance to the team.

Estimated Value : £200,000

Transfermrkt value: £1,800,000

Matt Polster

The American has only made a limited impression at Ibrox and looks set for a move to another Premiership side before the window closes.

Estimated Value : £100,000

Transfermrkt value: £540,000

Glen Kamara

The stunning form of the ex-Arsenal midfielder has seen him emerge as a key force in both the Rangers and Finland engine rooms.

Performances in the Europa League have shown he's a player who is comfortable in taking the ball in almost any situation and using it with intelligence.

A fee of such magnitude may raise eyebrows given the £50k it took to secure his signature last January but that deal speaks as much to Dundee's dysfunction as it does the player's meteoric growth.

Estimated Value : £6,000,000

Transfermrkt value: £765,000

Joe Aribo

The London former street footballer started 2019 in England's League One and finished it a Nigerian international with Europa League experience.

The skillful 22-year-old's superb individual goal against the Samba superstars was testament to his close control and strength, two features that have been obvious in Govan.

While he's been mercurial at times, a recent adaptation to the "right 10" role has seen him blossom and hit form at a crucial time.

With a long contract in place, his is a valuation you'd wager will rise in the years ahead.

Estimated Value : £3,000,000

Transfermrkt value: £450,000

Scott Arfield

At 31, his best years are behind him, the Canadian international has the Premier League experience to be a useful acquisition for a club looking for a dependable midfielder.

He remains a key figure at Ibrox where his versatility and work ethic make him an important member of the squad.

Estimated Value : £1,500,000

Transfermrkt value: £2,250,000

Greg Docherty

The former Hamilton midfielder has been told he can leave to get first team football after finding game time difficult to come by.

The notion persists that a player of his robust physicality and natural box-to-box engine may thrive in the English leagues.

As such, Rangers would be wise to include a significant sell-on should any deal go through.

Estimated Value : £1,000,000

Transfermrkt value: £675,000

Jamie Murphy

A serious injury has prevented the former Motherwell and Brighton man from being the force he once was since getting back to full health. At 31, the left-sided attacker needs games to get his career back on track and with a certain Mr Kent in his path he will need a move.

With 18 months left on his deal perhaps a loan move to another Scottish club would be the best option and one that would allow another crack at his Rangers career come the summer.

Estimated Value : £500,000

Transfermrkt value: £900,000

Ryan Kent

(Image: Getty Images)
The winger has already started to pay back some of his fee with a Celtic Park wonder strike just before the new year.

A player of significant natural quality, the Ibrox hierarchy will hope that he can develop into a player capable of raising a much bigger transfer fee in the years ahead.

Estimated Value : £7,000,000

Transfermrkt value: £4,000,000

Greg Stewart

A solid player at Premiership level who is the perfect squad option.

He's performed excellently in most of his first team glimpses but at 29, is unlikely to raise a big fee when the time comes to depart.

Estimated Value : £500,000

Transfermrkt value: £450,000

Jordan Jones

The Northern Irishman looked a terrific acquisition on a free transfer when he arrived but a self-inflicted injury sustained from an idiotic challenge against Celtic has ruled him out for several months.

In the meantime, Rangers have signed Ryan Kent and seen Joe Aribo adapt to become a formidable performer on the right.

It may leave scant opportunity for the electric winger to atone for his mistake so you could see why clubs might fancy their chances of prising him away.

Given his international pedigree and performances against good sides in Europe, the 25-year-old should attract a healthy fee.

Estimated Value : £1,500,000

Transfermrkt value: £675,000

Brandon Barker

(Image: SNS Group)

The former Man City kid has yet to prove himself as a consistent performer at professional level.

Despite a decent spell on loan at Hibs he hasn't set the heather alight with performances since arriving in Govan.

Estimated Value : £300,000

Transfermrkt value: £360,000

Alfredo Morelos

The Colombian is the jewel in the Rangers crown and despite a lack of goals against Celtic, it's unreasonable to say he doesn't score in the big games as his Europa League top score status will testify.

With 30 goals last season and 28 before Christmas this term the striker is no flash in the pan, and with international caps to add to the mix there will be plenty of big clubs monitoring his development.

Having signed several contracts since arriving at Ibrox, Gerrard's men are paying top dollar on a weekly basis but have tied their talisman up until 2023 - meaning that the ball is in their court when the time comes to negociate.

A deal equivalent to the money paid by Lyon for Moussa Dembele would be the baseline Rangers should accept and managing director Stewart Robertson has said as much.

Estimated Value : £20,000,000

Transfermrkt value: £6,750,000

Total value: £80,050,000

Aribo is a better player than christie and is still developing. He will be far better than christie could ever hope to be if he continues that developement. I think we could get way over 8m when he leaves if he keeps progressing.

The most valuable defender across both teams is.....? You guessed it, Ajer at £10m. That's more than double the value they estimated Goldson, Helander, Katic and Edmundson were worth, and £1-2m more than Tavernier and Barisic.

The most valuable midfielder from both teams is....? You guessed it again, McGregor at £18m. That is at least £10m more than they gave to any of our midfielders. Aribo only got £3m.

The most valuable forward from both teams...? Squidward at £30m who once again, predictably, is valued at £10m more than our Columbian international.

Lolz as the kids would say.

Why do people even get annoyed about stuff like this? If anything everyone underestimating us all the time will only help us.

If they have any of the Celtic midfield worth more than Kamara they know fùck all about football.

He is young, going to the Euros, has dominated them 3 times in 4 games, and for me is an unbelievably good footballer. The likes of McGregor and Christie couldn't lace his boots.

On the flip side, Celtc were totally outplayed in the last two games against us and were beaten at The Chamber of Secrets by a team who, in comparison to them, are worth buttons.

That will make good reading to The Great Unwashed.

I think you have nailed it with your post.

Kamara is at least a 10 million pound player. That's a bargain imo in English terms.

They could have any figure they want but as they are targeting Celtic supporters we were always going to be down played versus them.

Articles like this are made to cause outrage and get people's attention for clicks.

Also, I would say that currently, Christie is better than Aribo BUT Christie I would say is operating at near enough his peak this season, whilst Aribo is just finding his feet in Scottish football. I am more than confident that Aribo will be miles beyond him once he gets to his peak.

Its actually funny

the fact they feel they need to do that to make themselves feel better about their failing team

long may it continue :))

This is wonderful. The more they underestimate us the better. They haven’t yet recognised that they have been second best (bar one) in the last half a dozen games against us and long may it last. They are deluded and that is good for us.

When we were romping through 9 titles in a row back in the 1990's and hoovering up trophies, the Scottish tabloids still had their players as being worth more than ours. :))

The point of this would appear to be, firstly, to get fans worked up into a lather, which is pretty much the lamentable modus operandi mainstream football journalism in Scotland has been reduced to, and secondly, to reinforce (for themselves at least) that our players are not worth as much as we think they are.

STV news has featured Polish Paddy four nights running. You'd think they'd just signed Messi but its all just part of the Hoopy love in.

Just get on with your life and don't get annoyed at what some idiot in a low-brow newspaper read by idiots writes about our players. It's an utterly pointless article, nobody cares what they think.
They're all just pandering to their supporters because they know fine well that as far as Rangers supporters are concerned we're not interested and the game is up,so they'll do anything for a headline and we don't bite, but they will.

Take it another way, they’ll have no excuse when we win the title as they apparently have a vastly superior team and squad to ours.
Exactly. This just adds another dimension to the meltdown when we win the league, "but, but the record said our squad was more valuable than theirs"
