The linesman in question was a rhabid yahoo, confirmed by a couple of mhanks I worked with years ago, they knew him well and couldn’t believe he was actually running the line in an old firm game, they joked that he would do something daft like spot an off the ball incident involving a Rangers player, flag for a dodgy pen or flag for a clear onside Rangers goal.

Had the Referee done his job and sent him off Celtic would have to have played the remaining match with an outfield player in goals and with ten men. The score was 0 0 at the time.
As it was he stayed on and Celtic went on to lift the first trophy of their treble treble.
