I think that was just for the SPFL. When I read that I thought it was nonsense and the referee would never be in a position to score through deflection, but turns out I'm wrong.

Rules change as of next season. It would be disallowed.

The referees positioning is beyond suspect and the fact that he actually kicks it into the goal is absolutely screaming match fixing.
