Removing Tar from Windscreen?

Had to drive past a spot where they were resurfacing the road the other day (Usual spray tar and then dump gravel on top). However, my windscreen (and the rest) is now covered in tar droplets, which make the windscreen wipers smear and not clear.

Normal screen cleaning fluids won't work - any recommendations, or is it out with the white spirit?

Autosmart Tar & Glue remover or straight petrol On a cloth and keep wiping

WD40 will work. small amounts though. don't go daft

Turtle Wax do a good spray for this, only a very small amount required

Wee bit petrol on a cloth does the job for paintwork also

WD40 will take it off in no time at all

Spray it on a cloth first and wipe it on the area then rub off
