ROI playing in Royal Blue

Ireland's national colour was blue, green as Ireland's national colour is a somewhat recently invented tradition.

That is a very stylish shirt.

The I.F.A was founded in Belfast by a man that had visited Scotland and was impressed by Soccer so he wrote to Queens Park I believe when he got home and asked for help starting a football club

He was sent a ball, boots and a set of blue jerseys

Stuff about St Patrick is a myth
Why is it every thread related to NI or ROI you make an arse of it?

The Irish Football Association team played in blue - a golden harp on a blue background being the ancient flag of Ireland.

When the FAI was formed they took on the same colours.

The IFA and FAI both played in blue for a while and then the IFA (Northern Ireland) started playing in green to steal a march on "Irishness" and have stuck with it since the 50s/60s.
