RANGERS have been credited with an interest in Croatian talent Roko Simic, who has been dubbed the 'new Erling Haaland' and has the potential to be a world class striker, according to former Ibrox star and his former teammate Nikica Jelavic.
The 17-year-old is the son of former Croatia, Dinamo Zagreb, Inter Milan, AC Milan and Monaco defender Dario Simic and plays for Lokomotiva Zagreb in his homeland.

Rangers have been reportedly keeping tabs on the youngster as one of a number of European clubs who have watched the Croatian Under 19s star, who has been likened to giant Borussia Dortmund talent Haaland.
Jelavic played with Simic this season at Lokomotiva before retiring from football at the age of 35 in March and he's in no doubt the youngster will go big places in the game.
He said: "Roko is certainly one of the greatest talents in Croatian football! That’s for sure, he’s a young and decent guy, brilliantly brought up and he's a real rough diamond.
"He is gaining experience, I played with him and as one of the older players, we helped him along.

"Everyone knows who he is because of his famous father, but that's a burden that will shorty be off his back because he's good enough to write his own story.
"I am convinced that Roko will make a great career and that he will be a world-class striker, I really haven't seen a more talented player than Roko for a long time."

A young striker dubbed the 'new Erling Haaland' has been linked with joining the Croat contingent at Rangers.

Roko Simic, son of former Milan defender Dario, has been making waves with Lokomotiva Zagreb.

A Croatian Under-19 international, the giant striker has already earned comparisons with Borussia Dortmund star Haaland.

And former Rangers striker Nikica Jelavic has been blown away by the 17-year-old.

The former Ibrox hitman joins the likes of Mario Mandzukic, Ivica Olic and Davor Suker in great strikers the Balkan nation has produced.

And he reckons Simic will be destined for greatness if he joins compatriots Nikola Katic and Borna Barisic in Govan.

Jelavic played with Simic this season at Lokomotiva before retiring from football at the age of 35 in March and he's in no doubt the youngster has a bright future ahead of him in the game.

Interesting if we are genuinely keeping tabs on the boy and another sign that we are really upping our game off the field aswell as on it.

I can’t help thinking though that if the boy is really that talented we need to make our move sooner rather than later before he is out of our price range.

If you’re going to label someone as ‘the new X’ then pick someone who hasn’t yet turned 21.

We're going to need a new 4th choice striker if Defoe leave, someone who will be content with 15-20 appearances largely from the bench. A highly rated youngster like this would be ideal.

Gives them to time to settle in to Rangers and to Scotland.

Another young croatian lad whos highly rated is bartol barisic from croatia zagreb ,a good market for us to shop in and get good value

Anyone found the actual source of this? Assume its been mentioned in Croatian media.

Apparently him and his dad were spotted at a match alongside the RB Salzburg sporting director a few days ago.

Given Pele’s age it will need to be his great grandson.
The old boy has been known to throw it about a bit allegedly, so I doubt anyone knows who the children are, let alone grandchildren and great-grandchildren. I think one of his "official" children is in the nick?

It’s no wonder he needed the viagra then!

Obligatory highlight video

This is the sort of market we absolutely should be looking at, but the video is hardly selling the kid to me.

A few goals down the local park by the looks of it followed by a series of flicks and passes?

I’ll have to trust Gerrard and Wilson’s judgment on this one.
