I was just about to post this. It would be great if Rangers youth teams could join the English set-up.and playing against better players at the youth level.

Certainly it wasn’t his dad.Remember his Dad posting on here when he signed, saying it was the proudest moment of his life. Wonder what changed? £££££
So the big money should clear your death duties…….Change families' lives?
So the young boy gets a lucrative move and removes his poor downtrodden parents from biting poverty.
A bit of a romantic, nostalgic notion. If my kids hit the jack pot, they do it for themselves. In fact, they all still get a third of my worldly wealth when I go.
Money wise , yes. Experience wise , no.There is also a big difference what we can offer and what an epl team can offer.
Exactly , we have kept Lowry and King , they are miles ahead of Wilson who is purely just potential at this stage .Won’t lose sleep over it at this stage. Very little of these wonderkid strikers go on to be top strikers.
But boys will have a tougher time to get anywhere near first team .They also have a better setup for youth development than we do in Scotland so another reason for them go head down there.
For every Billy Gilmour or Barry Ferguson there's hundreds of Charlie Telfers amd Ryhs McCabes. He has potential nothing more …. Look at how Kennedy and McPake have turned out

When did we give him a chance to shine?Good riddance to anyone who doesn’t want to play for the club that gave them the chance to shine
Especially if they are Scottish it seems.Won’t lose sleep over it at this stage. Very little of these wonderkid strikers go on to be top strikers.

Haha had to edit your own grammar . Roon ye*lives.
The difference here is that Lowry has done it for the first team. Which is why people are getting excited.McPake was touted as the most exciting talent in years.
It’s why no one should be getting too carried away with Lowry just yet.
At what point do these agents advising the players get chased?
Specifically 'CAA Base'. Seems they specialise in hoovering up the brightest and best young Scottish talent and then before you know it they're signing deals to random Premier League clubs.
Clubs like us, and others in Scotland lose their young stars for a pittance, whilst this agency will be making a killing on signing on fees for the players, who cares if it's the right move for them since they're getting paid anyway.
I’m sure Chelsea bought Gilmours mum and dad a house. Could be wrong but it does happen. So yes familys life.Change families' lives?

I really don’t get why any kid would want to leave Auchenhowie these days but £££ talks especially if you’re not from the Rangers way of life. The future looks fantastic under Gio and his management team.
it creates a space for another talented lad to fill and the way the pathway to the first team is lighting up we will hopefully be pinching more Bassey‘s along the way.
I’ve a sneaky suspicion we’ve got a crop of 5/6 players seeing their way from the academy to the first team squad over the next 2/3 years.
Life is short, I don't blame anyone for trying to better what they've got, but I did have a chuckle when I read his comments like "off to the next level" - he's 16 & playing for the Rangers youth team for pity's sake, not playing for our first team & moving to Man City!"Off to the next level" he said, ffs you have not even reached the first one yet.
I did watch a few youth games on RTV and tbh he never showed much, Ure looks by far the better player.
It is the way of the world now £s over prizes.
In all honesty, cheerio, good luck and close the door on the way out.Just picked up this disappointing news.
Scots wonderkid Rory Wilson confirms Rangers exit as Aston Villa favourites to sign 49-goal striker

It’s a line that bothers me greatly.Anyone in their position would do the same here , let's not kid ourselves on that the money available down there changes families life's
On that one, I’d like to see an extension of the development fee to include a percentage of the first sell on fee.Very very difficult for strikers to break through and make it for us - they simply don't have the luxury of time. Good luck to him and we'll get handsome compensation I'm sure for a largely untested player.
It’s a line that bothers me greatly.
The only reason a kid should be doing a Gilmour or a Wilson is for their benefit.
Their development as a player or their long term financial security.
Not to change their family’s life.
That’s not their job.
I’d be absolutely embarrassed, beyond embarrassed, if the house I lived in was bought for me by my kid.
think it's fair to say history has shown that Rangers isn't a place to be continue your development as a player. In another thread I likened it to what happened with Dutch and Belgian players who got pillaged by the EPL clubs few years back, a lot of their careers stalled and they had to move back to their home countries to restart and come again. Thankfully for a lot of them after returning home their careers back on track and have gone from strength to strength. I think we will see something similar happening to our Scottish players in the coming years.
Good luck to them getting paid stupid money to sit in an academy, but I think history has shown that England is the wrong place to move to if you want to continue your development as player.
Yes, but that’s their career. In fairness, that's their prerogative and nobody else's. If at 16/17 a player could earn between £250k - £520k per year and secure their long term future and possibly make sure their parents are set in their retirement, I don't blame them for prioritising that over "player development." They could turn down the money and stay at their current club and find their development stalls in part due to being sent to the wrong clubs on loan, injuries etc and end up out of the game within four years.
No it's not, but given the choice at 16 to massively help your parents financially, most kids would jump at that chance.Yes, but that’s their career.
It’s not their job to prioritise their patents welfare.
Just discussed the question with my wife.No it's not, but given the choice at 16 to massively help your parents financially, most kids would jump at that chance.
Starting next season we need to play Lowry & King , McCann too , no point whining about pathways etc , unless there is one.If that was the case then no players would ever come through. If they really want to stay they can. Look at Lowry for instance.
Meant to add that I get that point but would not want it to be a factor in his career decision making. No it's not, but given the choice at 16 to massively help your parents financially, most kids would jump at that chance.
