Rossiter

Clubs insurance will be paying his wages so not a huge issue in the grand scheme of things the fact the lad is still rightly getting a salary

I so much want Rossiter to succeed with us. We knew what we were getting when he signed - a young player with a lot of talent but plagued by injuries. Hopefully in the not so distant future as he grows physically stronger his susceptibility to injury will diminish and we'll have a good player on our hands.
Someone is going to get a top player but I doubt it will be us unfortunately.

Either that ……or he will have to retire from the game for good!

Just typical of our luck!

I always find this kind of reply confusing. Why would an insurance company pay a players wages cause they are injured. Rossiter is only unfit for work. His contract will most likely say he gets paid when injured or sick and can't play. There would be no reason why an insurance company would be obliged to pay anything. I had a Google about and the only time insurance covers I just would be when a player is injured on international duty. Certainly it is the case in England as Newcastle sued the FA to pay Michael Owens wages when he got injured for England. The club's then took insurance out to cover that. But no mention of being injured whilst playing for your club

I'm hoping he kicks on and gets a decent run in the team for the second half of the season. If he's injured again this campaign should probably cut our losses, unless it's something unavoidable and unrelated like a leg break.

If he does come good, however, I'll be expecting to see a bit of loyalty from the boy.

Worth reiterating that he's 20 years old.

plenty time for this one to come good yet. Other 20 year olds aren't playing, and it's because they aren't good enough (rather than being injured).

I've posted on the old board before about this lad. My Older brother and Nephew are SB holders at Anfield the both stated at the time we signed him that "we'd got a real prospect if he avoided injuries " They said he'd been plaguedoing by them throughout his time at Liverpool.
Sadly,it seems that he is going to be continually on the treatment table for The Rangers too.

He had an injury that was a constant issue for him, hence the 'plagued' comments. It was not a case of injury prone player, it was a case of a player with a serious un-diagnosed issue. That issue has been reported as healed/sorted. If it is his knee this time, and if it is unrelated to the previous injury, it might just be that he has hurt his knee....

It’s possibly the last throw of the dice where this kid is concerned.

If he succumbs to another injury after this, I think we can probably forget it.

Sensible statement, surely the kid needs a bit of luck along the way. If he could stay fit when he gets back to the squad, i think the boy could turn out to be a very good player for us.Lets ride it out and give the kid a chance, rather than write him off.

He's made of glass unfortunately.
Can't see him ever staying fit to hold down a regular starting role

Do you know this? For a fact? Given his horrendous injury record at Liverpool insurance would surely have been a problem.

Rossiter is another of Scouse Frank McFarland's costly blunders.

Frankly, some of the posts about the kid are pathetic.

He had a chronic problem that took specialist intervention to diagnose and treat. He's now picked up a niggle - hardly unexpected following a lengthy lay off.

There is absolutely zero way to basically sack a player because he picked up an injury so can people please stop yearning for this to happen.

JR is busting a gut to get fit and play for Rangers and he deserves support from the err, support, not sneers and name-calling.

Still hopeful we'll get him fit. I really want him and Jack alongside each other, for a prolonged period. Would be a solid set up.

I like JR a lot - exactly the sort of player we require.

thankfully you are not in charge of anything at our club. Your constant negativity over the lad is a disgrace. give him and us all a break.
I wish him every success. It's just difficult at this stage to see him staying fit enough for long enough to make an impact. It's not personal.

I’d send the lad out on loan in January to get a good run of games. Keep him local though so his head doesn’t get turned.

Why would we send him out on loan?? If he is fit then he has to play some part of the season for us - if deemed good enough.

He seems to be one of those players the more he is out the better he becomes to some on here - the jury is still out on whether he can be a 1st team player based on the very little we have seen of him playing for us thus far.

This is why we should make sure our contracts have a clause in them that covers us for players being unavailable for selection. Im not talking about genuine injuries incurred while playing. Im talking about situations such as Andy Webster's, Daniel Prodan and the many others that are only here for the money.

Really hope Rossiter can find a good level of fitness and become an important player for us. Liked what I have seen in the flashes of games he has played so far. Him and jack would be a solid base allowing dorrans to push forward who I think would score & create plenty if he doesn’t have as much defence duties to worry about.

Wish him the best. Hope he emerges from this injury nightmare and becomes a player for us.

This is a player, who if injury free, we could build a team around. Fantastic player who will improve as he matures.

People can say that some of this responses on this thread are terrible - some ARE a bit crass - but it’s not just this latest injury.

Look at the injuries over his career, he’s genuinely been injured for longer than he’s been available.

The facts are that, as it stands, his body doesn’t look ready to participate in professional sport.

Obviously we all hope it can change but I expect him to be gone in the summer.

Guy will see out his contract here, no club will take a chance on him.

He isn’t going anywhere.

Those saying we should punt him in January or send him out on loan seem to be overlooking that he’d need to be fit before we could, and if he was fit, he’d probably be getting a game.

However, if he continues to suffer injuries, unrelated to the original problem or not, there is going to come a point where the club probably needs to make a decision.

Otherwise we’re stuck with a player spending virtually all of his time on the treatment table for another year and a half.

It must be incredibly frustrating for the player, not to mention the manager.

Not sure what he needs to do to get strong enough in every aspect of his physicality to minimise the risk of further injuries. There's a good player in there for sure, wonder if the club are looking at the Rossiter situation holistically or are they just treating the bloke on an as per injury perspective?

Very frustrating, but I note that Pedro said everyone was fit for Friday night except Lee Wallace, has he given up on Rossiter?

I've been less than kind to JR - especially on the old board - likening him to Andy Webster -
I know it's hardly the players fault - but from the club's point of view - we simply can't hold on for ever - paying high insurance premiums - even if not wages
We are not in any position to have even one passenger - & I know he's not exactly unique in our history - but what worries me is - even if he becomes fully fit tomorrow - given the length of his spell on the sidelines, it could easily be this time next year before he's back to fully match fit performances
There must come a point where you have to cut your losses - and I can't help thinking we may have already exceeded that point
