Ryan Porteous - 'I am a hard man'

Perhaps if he stopped listening to only people at Hibs he'd start improving and get a decent move. He's basically the new Scott McKenna a fud who loves playing to the gallery but all it does is stall your career and stop you from improving.

I think you have a misunderstanding of what single quotes are used for B-)
I think the misunderstanding could be yours. "I don't act hard... it's how I play the game" implies that its part of their game that they are hard, he's saying he's not acting. Therefore, 'that which is in quotes in the thread headline', is implied within the subject matter of the text/article and therefore is the correct use of quotes. It doesnt make the title any less clickbateish though from Suck. B-D

Single quotes do not make misquoting OK :))

Hard men don't go around grinning like loonies on the football pitch. Press need to be careful giving him air time as he's got delusions of grandeur and thinks he's the 'cheeky chappy' of the SPFL.

In much specialist writing (including linguistics, philosophy, and theology), terms with particular meanings that are unique to that subject are often enclosed in single inverted commas.
Therefore it is not a 'misquote' if the essence, in this case Porteous being a hard man, is contained within the subject matter whether implied or not! ;)

EDIT: Incidentally in my previous post I implied Suck was being a smartarse. It wouldn't be unreasonable for you to have taken my post and created a new thread titled, 'I'm so bored... thinks/says Suck is a smart arse!'.

All these young guy's that support and sign for hibs seem to believe this shite that they're part of this mythical hard as %^*& never been beaten casual fan mob that actually has been allowed to grow because of what they got away with at Hampden in the cup final ,they all want to stop reading that prick Irvine Welsh.

I honestly done Share the view there is a decent player in there. Hibs is his level in all honesty.

His passing, positional sense and all round game is bang average.

He dives into tackles to mask his shortcomings elsewhere

Oh right, sorry I didn’t realise he was writing theology.

I reiterate, you cannot make quotes up and put them in single quotes B-)

When is someone with any common sense going to tell this fanny to shut up and concentrate on his football?

He's in the paper crying victim when he got his second red card against us, when in fact he is lucky it was only two. Then to be fair he was perfectly entitled to enjoy the cup victory - despite him selling the jerseys for our goal - but of course he had to take it further and mock us. This was followed by a swift dose of karma as he makes an arse of it yet again for Kent's penalty.

Now only a week on from that he's back in the papers bleating again about how he's misunderstood.

Then there is the rolling around holding his face and screaming every time Morelos goes near him. Why is he drawing further attention to himself when his team are shipping goals all over the place and only seem able to raise their game against us?

You'd think his agent, manager, parents etc etc would simply be telling him he needs knuckle down and cut out the nonsense, at what is basically the make or break point in his career.

He's clearly just a dumb arsehole of a boy who isn't going to learn. We've seen this story before from the spoon burners with Riordan, O'Connor etc etc.

Tom Forsyth was as hard as nails but fair and he didn't try to injure people. Jan Wouters was as hard as nails but technically brilliant. They were real hard men not a learner Psychopath.

Looked pretty hard throwing himself to the ground 3 times against us at Easter Rd. So obvious to the point Madden had to tell him to stop.

Would love to see him try to bully a Mark Hateley type. The big man would elbow his Turkish teeth out in jig time.

He literally went down clutching his face at every opportunity during that league game. He's so limited in his ability he resorts to lunging dangerously into tackles to make it look like he some sort of wholehearted defender. A talentless clown and one whose downfall I can't wait to see.
