Sakala and Colak

Now these two guys had their faults and weren't perfect but my god, they are miles better than Dessers and Lammers.

Never mind replacing Kent and Morelos (despite both being dreadful last season) I'd take both now over those two.

We have totally messed up a chance to rebuild our squad last summer and going to take years to fix as these duds are going to be hard to shift. By that point those mhanks will be on 4 or 5 in a row unless we bring in a quality manager (like Walter in 2007 or big Eck in December 2001) who transformed a team of duds into winners.

Beale is 100% finished however and needs sacked.

I still don’t think it’s about the players. I think it’s about the way Beale is using them. Or not using them.

If Fashion was playing instead of Matondo, and Colak was playing instead of Dessers, the result would be the same.

A wing sided attacker that doesn’t fully know what their role is, and a striker left isolated from the rest of the team, and being asked to chase down hopeful long balls.

I’d like to see the back of Beale, but players like Dessers will never be fit to wear a rangers jersey. Pep on the touchline wouldn’t make him and a few others any better, they’re simply not good enough.

Those players failed as well. Let's not kid ourselves. Our signings over the past few seasons have been garbage. We also didn't invest properly in the manager position. The most important role at the club.

Problem starts in the boardroom. We're really badly led.

When you are half wanting the players back that left you know we are in decline because everybody who went out door it was the right time and decision for that to happen, maybe not the way it happened but that is done now.

Beale is on a tightrope and he knows it. That performance today and the response at full time paints its own picture.

BTW I agree, those players weren't great but we had chance to totally reinvent our squad this summer.

Somehow we have managed to downgrade the squad with duds like Dessers etc.

Butland is a clear improvement but the rest are dire in all honesty.

The likes of Barisic, Tav however need to go as well, these players are happy with being second every season.

Spending £14 million on Danilo , dessers and lammers shouldn’t mask the fact that Sakala and colak were not good enough for where we want to be .

Danilo will prove to be a good signing!!

That said, we could have signed Haaland and wouldn’t have made a difference today. Our “good chance” creation is terrible

Beale was getting consistent results with us last season, there was no need to make so many changes to the squad in my view. We would have been better making fewer signings but better quality signings and allowed some momentum to continue from last season.

Hagi Sakala and Colak would have been an upgrade today on Lammers, Wright and Dessers.

Sakala was good enough despite the abuse he got on here.
No he wasn’t . We took a punt on him , which I have no problem with , but we are looking to dominate in Scotland and compete in Europe so we needed significantly better than Sakala .

Dessers and lammers look a downgrade .

Said at the time it was madness getting shot. Sadly been proven right.

Dessers looks like he's never seen a fucking football before.

Have you seen Maeda at Celtic?

Sakala is no worse than him and would be a decent enough player if the rest of the squad was up to it.

Colak was also good enough. Have a look at kyogo and see what he does apart from stick the ball away.

We need to stop turning our nose up at players because they don’t meet the standards of 20 years ago. People need to get real and realise we aren’t in the same market anymore and we need to make the best with what we have. And that means the managers also need to find something that works for them.

At the end of last season we were probably only 3 quality players away from having a great chance this season. Instead we rip it all up.

Don't know the full story about why Sakala left but I presume he's on good money in Saudi.

Sakala was good enough but he didnt fit the profile for some in here.
I’ll disagree .

He wasn’t good enough or consistent enough , otherwise he wouldn’t be missing open goals in the SC semi final and hitting the corner flag with other efforts versus Celtic .

It shows how poor our summer signings have been that we rate guys like sakala who were not at the required standard

Colak and sakala , amongst others are not good enough .

You asked me to look at Kyogo and I did .

He has 5 winners medals in 2 years . That’s more than anyone else at rangers has in 7 years .

I liked Sakala and consider it a mistake to have let him leave. I actually thought Lammers did well when he came on against Betis on Thursday night. I genuinely think there is a player in there. Sometimes - as in the case of Matondo last season - a player can take a while to settle in. Many years ago another such player was Alex McDonald. As a support we are far too quick to write off players.

The attitude of some people was summed up to me by a quote last season, guy next to me when we were 2-0 up at fir park and Colak came on. I said it was good that we finally had a striker coming on. "He's pish all he does is score goals".

Seriously.

I remember Beale saying it was a 'very good opportunity' for Sakala so maybe he was tempted by big money. Didn't the club get a fee for him as well?

Yes, however, was up to the club, Beale didn't want him or he could have kept him.

Colak asked to leave. Reading between the lines of one of Beale's interviews at the time, he almost confirms that it was a mutual decision. Beale barely played him last season when he came in so I don't blame Colak for wanting to move on.

Sakala I feel would've been happy to stay and I said at the time that it was a mistake letting him go but the usual 'not allowed to say anything negative about the club' supporters told me that Sima and the other signings would be an upgrade and to trust the management.

What worries me is that we're 11 games in and neither Lammers nor Dessers have scored from a half chance or without another player setting up the goal; Lammers one goal was pretty much an open goal rebound. Dessers has had a tap in, a lucky deflection and a penalty.

Alfie, Sakala n Cloak were all capable of scoring goals from nothing or having little service.

I know there's a real tendency for some fans to get all misty-eyed about players that have left the club - the longer they are away, the 'better' they seem to get, in the memory of some. If you give it long enough, Bruno Alves will morph into Cannavaro, when tales of his endeavours in a blue shirt are being told. Having said that, I was never in favour of Colak being sold. I thought he was one of our most natural finishers, (alongside Roofe) and is definitely more competent striker, than any of Beale's imports.

Living overseas I’m often last to get the story and I’m definitely not in the loop… So it was a surprise to me that Colak went from scoring almost every week to a barren spell that would see him dropped and subsequently transferred.

What was the full story there?

He’s stopped scoring and offered nothing else.
