Sanding and refinishing hardwood floors?

Looking to refinish a solid hardwood floor, possibly with a different colour of wood stain.

anyone done this themselves? Is it simple enough or best to call in a pro?

You could try doing it yourself, best YouTube it first, also phone around and get prices.

save yourself the hassle mate get a pro in its a bastard of a job to do on your own

It's mega messy and when you've eventually got it looking good you apply the lacquer,oil, wax or varnish it, it will magnify every wee mark on it. If you intend using stain first make sure it doesn't have the same base as your top coat, or the topcoat will act asa thinners and cause it to go streaky.
