Scott Gemmell new favourite for Scotland manager job

Directors start recruitment process, lengthy public chase of manager, said manager rejects, directors have no Plan B despite claims they do & eventually appoint youth coach.

Sound familiar? :D

To be fair there really is no strong candidates out there. You either go big Eck route and he has failed before or you try a young coach who at least knows the young talent coming through.
Will be pretty mental when Malky McKay who has a much better CV is already employed by them hears the new boss is Scott Gemmill who has almost no managerial experience is the new manager.
This really could end quickly in disaster or he could build a fresh new Scotland team with players like, Robertson, Tierney, McCrorie, McKenna, possible Bates, Armstrong, Docherty, McGinn, Thumheed and Cummings. We do have some decent players coming through.

Oh come on - he might not be a good coach but he deserves the job after that incredible goal he scored in the World Cup against Holland.

Was always surprised we never made moves to sign him in the early 90s when the 3 foreigner rule was in place

Has done well with the U17s, U19s and U21s, his style tends to be the long ball up the striker and being a team that's hard to beat, has a lot of success with it.

Actually it makes sense.

Does he not know the future crop of players really well.

Not saying he’ll do any good but he seems to work well with the youngsters.

Decent and international class are poles apart.

Not the first or even 2nd choice but if the only other alternative is popcorn teeth then get Gemmil signed up!

Scot Gemmill was linked with us as a player several times--good footballer but lacked the bite of his father.

Hasn't he managed lads like McCrorie throughout the youth ranks? If so then it actually isn't as mad an appointment as I first thought, as those are the lads who should be getting into the team now.
