SFA prepare to make decision on Scottish Cup today - Update at 4.40pm No Decision on it

Why don't we just play a series of 5-11ers on the last Saturday in May and then play the final till the street lights come on and whoever is winning, gets the trophy and a place in next season's Europa League. Simple.

Financial compensation to Cove for example would only be a share of any TV revenue. There would be no gate money. If they had to travel the day before the game, compensate some players for loss of wages, pick up hotel bills etc, there wouldn’t be much left in profit for them.

If the competition goes ahead, they should carry out a draw and then top level matches get played and those ties with lower league clubs sees them compensated. Either that or it’s into next season and players are going to get broken by the number of games.

Would be good if they brought all the league games forward and played a mini tournament in May.

It seems a sensible suggestion as surely the lower leagues will be playing for a time before then. 5 game days needed from 3rd round till the final. Two full weeks would get it completed.

Think 10 -21ers would be better.

Surely the logical SFA solution is to hold a Eurovision style vote and just declare the team with the most points as the winner.

So there two options play it or don't.

So what do BBC Schumbag do? Run a vote with 4 options, splitting the 'play it' vote 3 ways.

Then declare, "The Scottish Cup should be scrapped this season with its completion currently under threat, according to a BBC Sport poll."

The actual results: "Over 10,000 votes were cast in an incredibly tight contest, with 38% saying they would cancel the tournament, while 37% preferred adapting the format to a finals-style event. Moving the games to next season got a share of 19%, and throwing out smaller teams was the least favoured option with just 6%."

So in reality 62% want it played then? Lying timmy f-wits can't help themselves. Agenda, agenda agenda as usual. Only 1 team and their fans in Scotland don't want it played and quelle surprise this propoganda bullsh!t appears right on time. Hmmm..... how suspicious but depressingly expected.

WAY too logical for this group. They'll try to throw as many games at us as they can if we keep progressing in Europe. Gotta please the scum!

Jings,
you youngsters playing 5-11 ers.
in the late 50’s it was 10-21 ers.
:))

I can see it being scrapped this season. League one and two clubs don't have a date yet for when they will be able to return. They haven't played since early January either and I don't think they're even allowed to train so clubs will want to get fitness levels up before restarting.

Theres still 11 2nd round games to be played so teams will be playing catch up straight away. Throw in the tests for these clubs as well is it worth their time?

Update out - basically another holding statement telling us very little . So much for the plan we were told about at the one last week

Need to read it a bit better
This information has been shared with the Scottish Government and, while it has been positively received, we await a final decision from Ministers.

Rod Petrie, Scottish FA President: “We are grateful to all leagues, clubs and participants affected by the temporary suspension for their patience and understanding during this period of uncertainty. They have played their part in keeping the nation safe and restricting the potential spread of the virus.

“I would also like to thank the representatives from those leagues and clubs, who have been proactive and collaborative in giving their input into safe and sustainable plans for a to return to competition.

“These plans have already been discussed with government officials. We look forward to hearing when and in what circumstances those leagues which have been suspended can return to training and, ultimately, to playing.”

Definitely passing the buck .

No surprise at the shambles of it all.

From down here in England I look on and virtually everything that comes out of Scotland these days - whatever it is - is an absolute embarrassment. Absolute tinpot amateurism everywhere you look. It's the blind leading the blind. Hopeless.

Update basically points journos to the Nat govt to ask when can footy come back ?
Yup, and ScoGov could come back and say the SFA knows what the criteria is for the return of football, its up to them. Surely they discuss this on a regular basis. What's the point in an update that is simply passing the buck and will likely perceived as the SFA trying to cast the ScoGov in a bad light and take the heat off themselves. Co-operation? Working together? Not a lot of that is evident it has to be said. More a case of 'not me Guvnor'.

Perhaps frustration at the govt for not making a decision ?

It’s almost like it’s the guy who was at the helm when Partick Thistle (even with the financial backing of a €uromiillions winner) went down the shítter, voila! now a top exec at The SFA

The infection rates are now significantly lower than in October when the lower leagues originally started playing football. Absolute farce.

Aye but those games include league games which we can play whoever we want in.

Get it played and get this team more than just the league title for a sensational season.

Since the decision makers got there they've had a well filled breakfast, a sumptuous 5 course lunch and now waiting on wullie haughey to give his yay or nay on the decision.

Will dinner with drink and cigars scupper it for the day.
