Should we be asking to furlough?

We shouldn't be doing this, no. Clubs can't put folk on furlough and still pay playing staff tens of thousands per week.

Then people who have no work to do, who are staying at home, should be laid off.

Ask Robert how that works, when he had no work for people to do he had to lay them off.

I'm only mentioning Robert because he is the only person on here who has actually said he had to do it and will understand the process better than me.

The club should be (they may well be) negotiating wage cuts/deferred % with the players first before furlough.

No. if someone cannot do any work for the club then they should be laid off.

Why would a business pay someone who cannot do any work.

That's what other businesses do. I have been laid off myself, when there was nothing for me to do.

Why couldn’t we furlough staff and pay them the difference?

No one misses out and the club makes a cash saving. It’s all about cash flow at this point.

I'm sure you know the process quite well lol

Absolutely not a clue, I don't employ anyone and I am not being furloughed myself. I just figured that as you had employees you would have been through the process and would have looked into it. Or used a professional representative to do it for you.

You, not an accountant? Tou use the exact same language as mine or is that your brother

Ok, Is it you or your brother that is an accountant or involved in finance, my parents were Japanese
I am not involved in finance, accountancy or any other such nonsense.

Neither do I have a brother who is.

I think you must have me mistaken for someone else.

I am sure she is quite delightful though.

This will contradict what I have to say further down the page but they might as well play the system instead of trying to look like they have money. The government in a heart beat will take every penny of a company.

If the players aren’t willing to take a pay cut they should maybe suggest they throw a percentage into a pot to help pay the non-playing staff. I’m not sure of the ins and outs from a legal point of view on this but I’m sure something could be sorted. It would hopefully show that our players have some sort of remorse and aren’t just thinking about themselves.

I hate the fact that multi millionaire business owners are furloughing staff, they should be told to dip into their own pockets and help their employees out. Sir Richard Branson has been a big annoyance for me, with the multiple businesses he owns hes giving off that the government aren’t helping his airline but I’m yet to read that he’s going to fund so much of their wage from his own pocket.

As for companies that have forced employees to take pay cuts I hope they show some gratitude when this is all over, when they start rolling in the profit again.

I have no doubt we will use the mechanism in place for the companies' benefit, and rightly so if we don't we would be in the position of funding Celtic and Hibs etc non playing staff.
That would be just stupid. Our Directors are successful in their own field and I am confident they are the right people for our Club

Even if we do it I still think it’s a disgrace that clubs of ours and their size can’t have the wages reduced from the first team ahead of the non playing staff.

I would love it if our players stepped forward and offered to reduce their salary over a few months.

Yes and we shout from the rooftops and shame those east end “cash rich” c*nts.

They are the so called socialist club etc with values blah blah blah. You are a football team ran by elite pricks like most of the rest now sit down wave your Palestine flag and enjoy your tainted titles ya bunch of fake Irish hypocrites.

I absolutely hate the idea of the club ever virtue signalling but in this case I would make an exception.

Celtic are a publicly listed company and their board need to announce any decisions like furloughing staff to the stock exchange , our board do not need to tell anyone anything . For all we no staff may have already be forloughed and players may have agreed a pay cut . If that is the case they will tell the fans when it suits them too , or not at all if they decide not too .

We should only release statements when we have something to say
