Just playing catch-up on the weekend fallout. After discussing Septic’s ineptitude at great length, they got a financial expert (Kieran McGuire...) in to discuss our latest figures only for him to say that they’re nothing to worry about. They then ask him to compare us and them and he’s basically said that they’ve fecked it.

Said that in 2018, the gap in revenue was 70m and now its only 11m which we would easily eclipse after a decent Europa run and winning the league.

I've been thinking for a while that their failed champions league effort, ridiculous wage bill and money spent on players who don't even make rbe bench has to catch up at some point.

While we quietly built and gained europa money, they were squandering.

I imagine winning the league this year and the possibility of champions league football again would finally set us back ahead of them financially.

As King said...a house of cards.

I think that’s the guy who does the price of football Twitter account?
It’s him, he’s got a tweet saying he was going to be speaking with them.

Can just imagine the Producer saying that they’ll spend about an hour talking about how poor Sellick are and then brighten the mood by asking a financial expert about our finances. Really don’t ever listen to their show to know if the did the same when their losses were announced a few weeks ago but I’d be happy to wager that they didn’t.

Im listening to sportsound now and English just said the fat Japanese is obsessed with us and has started going over his salary. 3 million a year, ouch.
He and they have always been obsessed with us. They’ve always reacted to our signings or tried to nip in and sign somebody we’re linked to. Everything is a reaction to us or done with us in mind. They’re the same from top to bottom. It’s all about the Rangers.

It's really is. Come the end of the season (regardless of the result), they could basically be losing atleast 8 first team players. Brown probably retires, the 3 loans go back (Laxalt 50k a week, Elyounouusi 65k a week and Duffy sh1te. None of them are signing) and they have 4 players entering the last 12 months of their deal in the summer. The 4 are Édouard, Christie, Ajer and Ntcham. That is 3 of their highest value players and they've allowed them to basically run their contract down in their pursuit of creating "history". They're going to lose millions in the fees they thought they should have gotten. They'll probably still get a good 40-45 million for the 4 combined but compared to the fees they should've got, it will be a massive kick in the stones.

Will those sales cover this seasons losses, next season's rebuild, loss of season tickets and merch (from losing the league) and probably no champions League money. No chance it will! When you throw in how hut and miss their recruitment is it could be a dire few years for the tims.

Certainly hope so

He on this is Ibrox pod this week.Well worth a listen breaks everything down to easily understandable even for financial idiots like me.

This will be a bigger worry for Lawell than their tainted 10* chase. He resided over their finances for the whole time, swollen wage bill, poor recruitment, business model based on developing players for sale at a profit now the quality has dried up and those who have any value now hold all the aces as they approach their last 18 months. As a previous poster alluded to, Dave Kings pack of cards could be about to topple if we keep the foot on their necks.

Heard a story before about a guy who used to take business clients to hospitality at the piggery. Lawell came over to talk to them one day and whatever Lawell said about us. Embarrased the guy enough that he vowed never to go back to hospitality until Lawell was no longer there.

The man is nothing more than a bigot is what was said.

Time, patience and forward thinking was the thing our club needed the most.

Our fans bought into it and we're now going to reap the rewards.

We have very loyal and very smart people on the board with deep pockets who knew what they were doing.

The other side have been utterly consumed by a frothing at the mouth support hell bent on trying to get one over on us thats in no way comparable to the utter grief we have served up to them for over 30 years.

The chickens are coming home to roost.

That’s not including their two massive elephants in the room - multiple compensation claims from child abuse victims and a massively decrepit stadium that is reaching the end of its useful life.

Heard him a few times over the last few years and he is very fair in his analysis. Always worth a listen ,never find any bias in this comments.
The only thing I will say is that it seems to take a catastrophe for them to actually wake up to the big picture.

They have bummed up every aspect of that club for years despite 70% of their players signed, at tens of millions remember, being total shite.

Regular pastings from some of the dregs of Europe from this so called squad of galacticos and also utter mailings from the big boys on the couple of occasions they happened to actually stumble into the CL.

Only when they realise Rangers have their house in order and dismantle them easily does it click with them. Where was this "journalistic integrity" in the last 5 years when everyone and their granny could see it coming......

40 to 45 million for 3 players out of contract in 12 months post pandemic?

3 players from a squad bottom of their europa league group dismantled by Sparta Prague's B team?

Ntcham looks as though he smokes 3 joints before playing games.

I think they have a big issue of diminishing assets. Their 3 biggest assets, arguably, have 18 months left on their contract. Their centre forward has no intention of re-signing with them, Christie's fancies a move to England, and Ntcham is in-and-out the team.
They will need to recoup what they can, when they can.

We will of course need to make some sales at some point too, but other than Tav & Kent (IMO), we have realistic cover in all positions and a board who are all-in on 55.

I reckon we only need one season in the CL to overtake them and then we will be on a financial role that will cripple them

Him and Reid were the perfect storm for us. 2 men utterly driven by their hatred for us.

Actually heard this, I was expecting some demented Tim tax expert but the guy was straight as a die. Said we would reverse the deficit this year if we win the league. Dave King is spot on with the house of cards analogy.

I think there is a massive revenue problem for Celtic everyone is overlooking if they lose the league and that will be from bitter mentally challengeds requesting a refund for their COVID season tickets. Seen a few of them talking about it already as they want “to punish the board”.

Unless Celtic changed their terms and conditions from last year they were legally obliged to provide refunds to anyone wanting one.
Even if a quarter want a refund that’s £5m at least

Day to day, Week to week, Celtic make bigger losses.

They have had player sales and access to the CL, we haven’t.

Celtic had to regress and we had to be smart in the transfer market and get more value for money than the moves Celtic made.

Hopefully this season it all falls into place. Both clubs need to sell to balance the books if there is no CL football, but that’s the model we’ve been implementing since DK came in.

Kieran Maguire is very clued up on the finances of football.

Unfortunately there are a few here who, previously at least, didn't accept his comments on the likes of Rocksport as he is called Kieran.

2020 is defo a year to remember. Kieran‘s comments very very balanced re books. Kieran speaks very well. Tom slapping Daryl into bargain. Quality. Some on here have no time for Tom but I find his very good. Big Craig a decent pundit too.
