SPFL announce key dates for season 2019/20 including opening weekend

No issue with the winter break.

Where the madness occurs is 9 games in December. (If in europe).

We then had random weeks where we get one game a week for 6 weeks, like the post split.

Nonsensical for players and more importantly, fans.
That’s set up to allow for postponements and cup replays

People blame the Winter Break on the amount of games we play in December when actually it doesn't

2018-19 saw us play 9 times however here is the breakdown of that

5 weekend games since 5 dates in December 2018
1 scheduled midweek game - 26th December

Since we qualified for the EL group stage that meant 1 EL game

leaves 2 other midweek dates

One was used for a set of scheduled fixtures and one for an rearranged game

If there was no winter break there would have been at maximum of 8 games in December 2018 the only game not to played in December would have Aberdeen game. The winter break causes problems since they have to fit in 3 sets of fixture elsewhere in the season - 1 midweek and 2 weekend from Janaury

December 2019 to be confirmed

Wed 4th League
Sat 7th League
Thurs 12th EL GS
Sun 15th League
Sat 21st League
Thurs 26th League
Sunday 29th League

Leaves 1 free midweek to fit a game from a League Cup Semi-final or postponement

So we could playing a maximum of 8 times

Next season's Scottish Cup final will take place on 9 May - two weeks before the end of the SPFL season.

The Hampden showpiece has been brought forward due to restrictions over the stadium's use for the Euro 2020.

The Scottish Premiership season does not conclude until the following weekend, while the Premiership play-off is scheduled for 24 May.

Hampden will host four games at next summer's Euros, with the first of those matches on 20 June.

Betfred Cup over a weekend so early in the season makes no sense to me. Everyone is buzzing for the league to start and they put a Cup competition on the 3rd weekend, makes no sense!

It's a nonsense. The only league cup game that should be played on a weekend is the final.

2nd game is on 19th June
3rd game is on 23rd June

last 16 game is on 30th June

just like last season

UEFA now use all midweeks so they can't play it on a midweek in August

An absolute fucking nonsense.

Agree on that they could have scheduled it for May 16 instead and still be able to play the Premiership play-off after the Scottish Cup Final

Wembley which hosts 7 Euro 2020 games weekend of 23 May have this

23rd FA Cup Final
24th League 1 Play-off Final
25th Championship Play-off Final
