SPFL Board Elections

The SPFL Board Elections can only be a couple of weeks away.

We obviously hope that the SPFL Executive are forced out once their calamitous handling of the conclusion to the 2019/20 season ends with the SFS Arbitration procedures but they will inevitably try to hang on.

The current Board is made up of:

Premiership - Alan Burrows (Motherwell), Les Gray (Hamilton Academical), Stewart Robertson (Rangers),
Championship - Ross McArthur (Dunfermline Athletic), Ewen Cameron (Alloa Athletic),
League 1 - Peter Davidson (Montrose)
League 2 - Ken Ferguson (Brechin City)

Alan Burrows has already stated that he won't put himself up for re-election but he worryingly also stated that the others are. If the others are re-elected it doesn't bear thinking about.

With the fixtures out and the conversations drifting towards matters on the park this might seem a pretty dry subject but the result here might be one of the season's most important (especially if we end up with this Board being granted its emergency powers). Herr Liewell needs to be kept in check by other(s) and we know it can't be us in this instance.

We know that Stewart is being replaced by Peter Liewell so who else would we like to see voted in that has a realistic chance of getting the necessary support?

From the top flight I think Dave Cormack may be our best bet. Perhaps John Ward of Livingston after surprisingly backing our call for an Independent Inquiry despite pressure from Peter, claiming the SPFL had failed as an organisation?

Any other thoughts on the above or who could be relied upon to be genuinely impartial from the lower divisions?

Stewart Robertson apart.

If you are on the board last season are you allowed to put yourself up for re-election next season or is it a completely new board of incompetents incoming ?

Reading Burrows statement it looks as though you can but Rangers/Celtic representation alternates every two years.

Lawwell is rumoured to not be going on due to him
being on other game boards, but will be someone else from the vile club on his behalf

We need to get like minded thinking clubs reps in there, why can't we have someone from Rangers?

The structure is as much an issue as the individuals. Having club reps decide the fate of the league structure and prize distribution is amateurish and leads to self preservation.

Having clubs with 100 fans decide the fate of professional outfits with multi million budgets is equally stupid. Its like having the owner of the local snack van decide a business plan for McDonald's.

Find an outsider with immaculate sport and business contacts and a track record. Pay them to run the show and market the product. Reform the whole thing.

Not sure of the reasoning for the Rangers and Ceptic taking turns on the board but would guess that in the past we were looking for similar outcomes. This is not the case now where Ceptic are happy with the status quo, and we say it can't continue.

Who actually cares about this corrupt cabal anyway. It won't matter a jot who is on the board not a thing we can do anyway. Anyone who voted for and independant enquiry will not be considered.

Scottish Football is sewn up in favour of one team and there is not a thing that will change that. We had an open goal with the good Friday vote fiasco and our board shat it. A real opportunity to put our foot on their neck and we decided to go down an avenue that we knew was never going anywhere (independent investigation)

We are going to have to suck it up and just get on with it.

How come that goliath of a team Alloa Athletic have a member on the SPFL board, and also the vice chairmanship of the SFA, (currently in charge because of illness). Who new that they were so influential in Scottish Football, and why ?.

That's not elections it is mere passing about Brown envelopes or taking turns to get there hands on the corporate allowance cash they get for doing the role scumbags

What a difference that would make to football in this country, we can but dream but that is exactly what is required.

Dead on. The SPFL would shyte themselves from some hard nosed Barry Hearns type calling them out as arseholes and destroying their cosy, noses in the trough parochial joke of an organisation.

Much more preferable to have the usual suspects nominating their favoured henchmen and then arranging them to be voted in on the basis of robust conversations and veiled threats.

The Cabal will place more yes men in there. Just look at the way they treated SR near the end of his stint. How dare he question the corruption going on in there! Will be a water tight poet closed shop now.

Peter Lawell on the SPFL board? Shouldn’t he be getting lifted for his role in covering up 50 years of child rape?

With the fall out of child abuse cases coming soon, we should be objecting to Celtic being on any of the decision making bodies.

We need to face the harsh reality that the elections democratic. Each club has the opportunity to put forward a candidate and they then have to receive enough votes to be elected. The cabal cannot control that but apathy plays a big part in this.

Rangers and them are guaranteed 1 place rotating as democratically agreed with all the other clubs.

That leaves Ross County, Aberdeen, Dundee Utd, St Johnstone, Hibs, Livingston, Motherwell, Hamilton, St Mirren & Kilmarnock. Here’s my ratings / categories of them as Cabal or Anti Cabal or Fence Sitters

1. Ross County fence Sitters

2. Aberdeen Anti Cabal

3. Dundee Utd Cabal

4. St Johnstone Fence Sitters

5. Hibs Fence Sitters

6. livingston Anti Cabal

7. Motherwell Cabal

8. Hamilton Cabal

9 St Mirren Fence Sitters

10. Kilmarnock Fence Sitters

4 Cabal, 2 Anti Cabal, 4 Fence Sitters.

Motherwell are not standing so that reduces the Cabal to 3 candidates. It’s crucial that Aberdeen and Livingstone stand and we can only hope that Hibs, St Johnstone and Ross County do too.
