CALLS from SPFL officials to change the role of the controversial Compliance Officer have been ignored, according to a report.
It is claimed that chiefs from the governing body of Scottish football have blanked the league organisation about their concerns.
The
Sunday Mail say that the SPFL sent proposals for change to solve the disciplinary shambles surrounding the role SEVEN months ago.
However, these have fallen upon deaf ears.
It is said that plans were put forward in June 2019 to the SFA, which was initially commissioned by chief executive Ian Maxwell, to freshen up Clare Whyte's job as Compliance Officer.
But the proposals lead by a six-person panel from
Celtic, Rangers and Hearts have been cast aside by the Professional Game Board, who are chaired by Alloa head honcho Mike Mulraney.
It's claimed that the group have been told the proposals haven't yet made it on to the agenda.
The group had members from all parties including the SPFL, PFA Scotland chief Fraser Wishart, referee Kevin Clancy, Clare Whyte herself, SFA's legal head Heather Brown and beaks from the Highlands, Lowland, juniors and women's game.
The main aspect of change that the group have put forward is to eliminate inconsistencies of what Whyte is asked to deal with.
This would in turn remove the ability for anyone to report anything as 'trial by Sportscene'.
Last season saw a number of highly controversial incidents involving the Compliance Officer.
And last month's Old Firm derby has seen the whole disciplinary process come under fire yet again.
Rangers blasted back at the SFA and claimed they are being judged by a different set of rules.
Ibrox chiefs are
furious at a list of charges levelled at them by Hampden compliance officer Clare Whyte.
She has prosecuted Gers and two of their coaches over flashpoints at games against Celtic and Hibs last month.
Whyte issued four notices of complaint on Friday – but chose not to pursue charges against individual players.
However, Gers say they are “astounded” by the charges and will defend themselves at a hearing next month.
