SPFL Formally Requests Emergency Meeting with First Minister

I don't have it to hand, but it was in a biography of her that in the 80s, she realised that Scotland would always be at the mercy of England in terms of having a Tory Govt. Labour
Thanks mate, never knew that. Have to laugh at the belief that we are at the mercy of England, though. What fekkin century does she live in?

You can hear the conversation the fat Japanese had with his spunk bucket.

Clearly finances are critical and fans are required to help keep the clubs afloat but I can’t help but think that the real driver here is for fans to get back to help ra poops and hinder our progress in a less stressful environment.

as much as I want back to Ibrox I’m happy to stay away this season until we secure the title at least.
Having fans back could hinder our chances of the title as the previous two years have shown that the team couldn't handle the pressure at Ibrox with 50000 bears whinging at every loose pass & every wayward shot , no let's wait till its mathematically impossible for them to catch us at least for this season anyhow.

Dear Mr Doncaster

We're doing things more differenter in Scotchland. So you won't be getting fans at the games. That's what thae English do.

Yours
Nicola

Nicola Ceaucescu will release another populist statement. This time she will tell us that we can go to the football, but no pubs before or after, no gathering for buses/trains, and no singing when we're there.

In addition to this, she extends the household mixing ban, and says there's no way schools will shut again.

Would you really put it past her?

Crowds back from 1 January. Home fans only of course.

Then when numbers increase after the Christmas amnesty, back to no crowds the following week. Can't remember if there anything happening that week.

SPFL Formally Requests Emergency Meeting with First Minister

League Warns Failure to Mirror English Fans’ Return Will ‘Sound Death Knell’ The SPFL has today written to First Minister Nicola Sturgeon asking for an emergency meeting to end the lock-out of fans across the country.

Following the announcement that clubs in England have been given the green light to welcome fans back, the SPFL’s chief executive Neil Doncaster has issued a direct appeal to the First Minister on behalf of the country’s 42 professional clubs (see attached letter) to very quickly let Scottish fans back into stadia in carefully-managed, meaningful numbers.

Mr Doncaster said: “Scottish football fans are the most passionate in Europe, with more league attendances per capita than any other country, so our clubs have been hit far harder by the lock-out than those in England because we depend much more heavily on gate receipts.

“Every major club in Scotland has very detailed, well-founded plans in place for safely returning fans back to stadiums, and thousands upon thousands of Scottish fans are simply desperate to get back quickly to watching their teams in the safety of a carefully-managed, open-air environment.

“We are now calling on the First Minister to do the right thing by Scotland’s hard-pressed football supporters. If it’s good enough for English fans, it must be good enough for Scottish fans.

“If the First Minister refuses to allow football fans all over Scotland to watch their beloved teams in carefully-regulated, limited numbers, complete with track and trace, she will have to explain to them the clinical difference between Scottish fans and English fans.

“Make no mistake, failure to get fans back in the very near future will sound the death knell for some of our best-loved clubs and no-one wants that.

“The First Minister alone has the opportunity to put a smile on the faces of Scottish football fans and give them a much-needed early Christmas present and we are calling for meaningful, urgent engagement.

“Despite the enormous financial consequences, our clubs have followed every directive and every instruction from the Scottish Government for month after month. Clubs, supporters and players have been hugely patient. Apart from supporter safety, there is no higher priority for our game. It’s now time to get the fans back.

“We have written to the First Minister seeking an emergency meeting, because time is really against us. We will meet with her at any time, day or night, to fit in with her busy schedule and we await her response.

“The clubs have done the hard work of putting their plans in place for the safe return of fans in limited numbers. All we need now is for the First Minister to say ‘Yes’.”

Dear First Minister

From your enthusiastic reaction to the magnificent achievement of the men’s Scottish national team earlier this month, it’s clear you share a passion for our game.

I am sure you are equally keen to safeguard the very future of Scotland’s national sport, which has been hit far harder by the lock-out than south of the border because it depends much more heavily on gate receipts.

For almost nine months, and despite the enormous financial consequences, our clubs have fastidiously followed every directive and every instruction from your Government. Clubs, supporters and players have been hugely patient as we have played our full part in the national effort to combat coronavirus.

However, with the very welcome news that clubs in England are being allowed to bring back fans in limited numbers, we are seeking urgent talks with you to ensure that Scottish clubs, and Scottish fans are permitted to do the same in very short order.

As you will know, every major club in Scotland has very detailed, well-founded plans in place for safely returning fans back to stadiums. Thousands upon thousands of Scottish fans are simply desperate to get back to watching their teams in the safety of a carefully-managed, open-air environment. Apart from supporter safety, there is no higher priority for our game. It’s now time to get the fans back.

Scottish football is on its knees and clubs big and small the length and breadth of the country are in the most dire straits, with income projected to drop by £100 million this season alone. Failure to get fans back in the very near future will sound the death knell for some of our bestloved clubs, which would be a tragedy on many levels, given the enormous contribution they make to the economic, cultural and community life of our nation. No-one wants that to happen.

You alone have the chance to put a much-needed smile on the faces of millions of Scottish football fans, giving them an early Christmas present by quickly approving the carefullymanaged return of fans across the country.

The response amongst Scottish supporters to the news about English football fans returning has been resounding and, having taken extensive soundings at all levels of our game, I have been asked to request an emergency meeting with you, because time is really against us.

Together with senior representatives from our clubs, we are entirely at your disposal. We will meet with you under any circumstances, remotely ort in person, day or night, to fit in with your busy schedule and we eagerly await your response.

Yours sincerely
Neil Doncaster
Chief Executive
That’s a long winded letter for such a short question.

I get that there's plenty of sarcasm there, but I hope people realise that when fans go back it will be like that, as it has been at Aberdeen, ICT, Ross County.
No singing or cheering, masks worn, photo ID to get in, Strict seating/distancing. And of course the pubs are shut anyway. I'm not currently a st holder but if I was I wouldn't be overly keen to return under those conditions.

Doncaster isn't doing this on behalf of smaller clubs, mate. He's a hired Celtc stooge and nothing else.
Exactly,it is unbelievable that we are in a position where we could still rue the day we did not get this trumpet removed,he`s already attempted and failed to get the power to void this season "if need be"

Fat Lawwell no doubt behind his shoulder telling him what to type....

You would think that fat tadger would have enough on his plate with the mutany at the Lennoxtown training shack....

Tier 4 restrictions across the central belt with folk wondering if they’ll even see their wee granny at Christmas and this tadger is demanding fans in, very good.

In a nutshell. How can they justify football fans attending grounds when we can't even see our families right now.

Why sturgeon? Do the government not have a minister for this sort of thing, amongst the other things he or she is responsible for. Nearly a serious question:)

I’ll go for her reply being along the lines of

now is not the time to risk all our hard work in the continuing containment of the virus by letting supporters return to games, but let me be clear as soon as the science allows I will certainly consider the request by mr Lawell I mean mr Doncaster to let a few thousand Celtic fans return
Your wee nippy!!!!!!!

No chance she’ll compromise on this until we are all back at Level One.

It would completely contradict what appears to be their tactics at the moment.

There will be a huge spike in cases in Jan.

Certainty.

Pressure wasn't really the issue for me.
We lost key players at key times and we never had the squad to cope.
We also had an inexperienced manager. He's a little longer in the tooth now.

I have been predicting mass bankruptcies among football clubs by about Year end since the start of this.
I look forward to the demise of many that prematurely tried to dance on our grave.
I will relish seeing this happening and will shed no tears.
The only downside could be the end of some Premiership teams which could lead to the SPFL ending the league early while we are in front and refusing to award the title.
The upside could be that the SPFL/SFA breaching deals and might give us a way out of this backwater.
They must be shoiting themselves to go cap in hand to Jimmy Krankie. They will be after hand outs!!!

As much as it would be great to get back into Ibrox, I'm not sure I want any changes to the conditions that done us so wonderfully well up to this point of the season.

I fully agree, the question is what are they up to?
They are up to something, but what?
Is it just a "We tried our best to help you lads, but she wouldn't listen, this is our next best option to stitch up the DOBs........" to get as many clubs as possible onside with their next scam.
The Dundee vote proves that they are absolutely without scruples to ensure that they get their own way. Clubs could well be faced with another suck my cock or die scenario.
This is no longer anything to do with sporting rivalry. Although for them, I doubt it ever was.
Their motivations are envy and hatred on a level we can barely comprehend.
Is their behaviour related to legal activity in the pipeline for both Celtc and the SFA/SPFL?
Goodness knows what they are up to, but be in no doubt they are executing a plan.
Rant over.

Doncaster is merely Celtc's errand boy and mouthpiece. I reckon everyone knows that by now. In any other business, he would have been binned long, long ago. My own worst scenario opinion is that he's the insurer for null and voiding the season if we go miles ahead in the League. He'll ask Sturgeon for a ludicrous amount of money to cover SPFL clubs huge financial losses, knowing that he's got no chance of receiving it, then he'll go for null and voiding all the Leagues. We saw what they did to both Hearts & Partick Thistle last season just to award a bogus title to that mob. No low is too low for Doncaster and company. They didn't add null and void to this season's options for no good reason.

If I was a rangers player, I would take this as an insult.

What kind of fans have we became, that we want empty stadiums to help win the league?

Never thought I'd see the day.

It's not fair for some fans to miss certain games because of this imo it has to be all fans in or none at all for us

I genuinely believe that they are skint and the ongoing compensation claims are getting ever closer to being realised. Add in loss of game revenue and the cash flow should be creaking their bankers trust.
I just wonder how covid is butt fvcking Desmonds businesses, hopefully making losses hand over fist.

"From your enthusiastic reaction to the magnificent achievement of the men’s Scottish national team earlier this month, it’s clear you share a passion for our game."

I presume what he means is she mimicked passion to play up her Scottishness and got her beard to take a couple of photos for her Twitter
I don’t want to think about “her beard” no matter how talented it is

Sturgeon doesn’t give a shite if clubs go bust, collateral damage. Not interested in the national sport, unbelievable.
She‘s the hammer of the working class, she’s proved that with the shutting of pubs, minimal alcohol pricing, wanting to ban supermarkets from selling alcohol as well, hate crime bill.
More freedom in North Korea!
