The Scottish Professional Football League has made advanced payments to the country's 42 senior clubs as they attempt to navigate coronavirus.

Football in Scotland has been suspended since 13 March.

Payments due to be paid in April have begun to appear in the bank accounts of each of the clubs, many of which are suffering financial difficulty.

The top three in the Premiership - Celtic, Rangers and Motherwell - will receive £395,000 plus VAT.

The rest of the top-flight clubs will get £157,500 plus VAT.

The payments dip significantly down the divisions. Championship clubs are due to be paid £26,500 plus VAT, League One clubs £2,700 plus VAT and League Two clubs £1,350 plus VAT.

The next payments to clubs are the final end-of-season rewards for league placings, but it is currently unclear when those will be paid because of the continuing uncertainty over when the season will actually end - and how.

Time for us to make a plan to help Rangers financially.
The rest, apart from the filth, are going tits up on this kind of money.

Luvvly Jubbly. I trust the Bears to do what it takes to help Rangers. We've been forced to do it before.

The top two clubs who need the money the least end up getting the most.

Get the fûcking season null and void and split all prize, tv and sponsor money equally between the 42 teams rather than sitting on a pile of cash and not distributing it properly due to fear of a backlash for not gifting one team the title.

We aren’t the EPL. Our clubs won’t be able to sustain a lengthy shutdown and their players can’t take massive paycuts because most aren’t on that much to begin with.

This should be about all Scottish clubs surviving rather than one disgusting clubs obsession with 10 in a row at all costs.

If £1500 is really expected to prop up a league 2 club through this crisis then I fear that the game’s a bogey.

This. No question that this is what should be happening.

Also has to be remembered that the EPL has a much more equitable division of money than we do. They split the total pot for the league with equal gradations between each club as you go down positions (ie £100k between 1st and 2nd, 2nd and 3rd, 3rd and 4th right down to the same between second bottom and bottom. No idea what the actual gradation is - £100k used to illustrate).

In Scotland, all the money is disproportionately given to the top. It used to be massively weighted towards the top 2 but, since Celtic bought off Aberdeen in our absence, it was changed to be completely weighted to the top 1. So there is (for example) £400k between 1st and 2nd then £50k between 2nd and 3rd then £10k between 3rd and 4th dripping to very little at all between the bottom clubs.

Scottish football needs to pay all member clubs a fair share this year. The total money should be divided between the leagues with more going to higher leagues (as they have clubs with higher outgoings) but more than usual going to the lower leagues who need it more. Then every club in the league getting an equal share of their league’s portion. It is the only way to even try to be fair.

The whole lot should have been equally spread out thia season. That would have been the correct thing to do imho. Some winners, some losers.

The money should be equal for each team in the league.
very poor those lower leagues how they manage and how they can bring young players up and train them on that is impossible.

Disgusting
We should take the lead here and ask the question if it would not make more sense to split all the money equally between all member clubs. Got no time for a lot of them especially the sheep but we can’t play the paedo protectors every week I’m afraid

If that's the financial support the governing body can offer 1 league will be enough to suffice going forward. A lot of teams are going to the wire.

I was saying it was disgusting in relation to the amount the smaller clubs were getting, hardly worth it

Don't accept the next payment until either the season is finished or voided.

If we do before either of those two cases occur, It would show an acceptance of "predicted" final finishing positions and any future legal case against Taig chicanery would fall apart immediately.

Those payments are pitiful, this is a time where the authorities should be doing much more to help lower league clubs.... Evenly split the money between all 42 clubs and do the right thing for the game in this country and not just the one team like they have been doing for years now!
