orient players testing positive
cannot move it as Spurs are playing Thursday & potentially next thursday

let the chaos commence

I presume positive Covid results have to be shown to the Football Authorities as matter of course ? Otherwise, clubs who fancy a delay can pick and choose the games they want to avoid without having to rely on a former player dying on the pitch.

EFL rules

5.1 A Club which is unable to fulfil its obligation to complete a Competition match in Round One to (and including) Round Four due to either:

5.1.1 that Club’s Player(s) having returned a positive CAT result and self-isolating in accordance with the action plan set out in the Return to Play/Return to Training Protocols resulting in the Club not having a sufficient number of Players to fulfil the fixture; or

5.1.2 any requirements or directions of the UK Government and/or by any public authority,

shall forfeit the fixture, pay the opposing Club’s expenses in accordance with Rule 5.8 and the opposing team shall receive a bye into the next round of the Competition.

It seems very daft to have the cups ongoing this season tbh. Imagine we got drawn away to fraserburgh again and some of the first team squad came back with the virus? We'd be absolutely livid

So wait a minute, spurs were scheduled to play Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday this week? Utter farce. Then probably Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday next week!

Well that's pretty clear. Does the SPFL have similar rules?

Turning into a total farce.

Should've scrapped the League Cup, given the tight schedule this season.
Fair point mate but as a previous poster said Orient would've received £100,000 from Sky tonight..thats big money for the lower league sides.

I’m looking forward to cups this year. Whilst we continually draw spl teams away, I’m hoping the Bheggars catch plague from one of the scheme teams they invariably get at the Phiggery.

Yeah, that's the downside. Smaller clubs survive on the money that can be made from these cup-ties

The League Cups and that ridiculous Nations League for international teams should have been the first competitions to be shelved / put on hiatus for a year or two until this shitshow begins to abate.

As ever greed, money - and in this case of cancelling games hysteria and overkill - leads the way

When the EFL were sorting dates for League Cup this came up and they accepted that the club playing at this stage mostly like would be fielding an weaken side

Fair dos, makes ye wonder what the point is in having the PL teams in at this stage them.

You've got more chance of catching Covid in Glasgow than in Fraserburgh to be fair.

Different for us as the league started at a normal time, but both cups in England should have been scrapped this year.

should scrap it anyway both sides of the border
