Stadium tours (Bayern fans)

My mate from over here in Ballymena is a massive Bayern Munich fan (don't know why) but he travels quite regularly to watch them play and hes over for the match tomorrow night against them

He just text me that he went up to Ibrox there, and there is a good crowd of Germans up round the ground. they went to look for a stadium tour but were told no that none were available today.

Surely we need to address this issue. We really do need a full time museum/tour going on during the week, especially when we know there are European teams visiting the city. Think its a bit bad that we have supporters from one of the biggest clubs in the world wanting to tour our great stadium and theres no tours available for them

This kind of thing frustrates me. The club should be anticipating this kind of thing and being flexible to allow for tours like this.

Not the actions of a properly run club. Missed revenue and missed profile enhancement etc. etc.

I really do wonder about some of the people 'running' our club :(

A shame actually.
Lots of fans in Germany know us quite well
through the times we've been drawn against Bayern.
It doesn't take too much organising to make sure
that somebody has that 'shift', or even a couple of
people to show the foreign fans around.
This should be sorted for every game played in
Glasgow with foreign opposition.

Surely someone...even one person...knew fixture lists and dates and realised today and tomorrow would be a good time to have someone around?!
Unfortunately I really don't think our club and the people running it think like this. They are stuck in their ways with little imagination, innovation or flexibility.

"Nah mate - not today, it's Monday we're shut" :(

I would have thought someone at the club would have been in contact with Bayern official supporters association offering discounts to travelling support for lunch and a tour as football fans love traditional football clubs and the history it's story tells.

Another chance lost.

So they decide to just rock up on the day and expect to be given a tour ? Or did they try and book before they came over because they're two entirely different things .

A properly run club, with people on the ball would have nailed this mate. The fact that we haven't is really poor.

We should be reaching out to supporter groups of teams that have games against the filth and arranging a good deal with them.

In black and white on the website:

Ibrox Tours run every Friday, Saturday* and Sunday* and are priced at just £15 for Adults, £5.50 for Children/OAPs – Kids 5 years & under go free and a family ticket for 2 Adults & 2 Kids, £35.

Aye they booked a Friday, Saturday, Sunday tour...that would have been so helpful for them.

Hence why I asked because I didn't know if we offered it or not . Surprising as I remember opposition fans of there's doing it recently and being posted on here ? Is the Friday sat and Sunday a new thing ?

Linfield fans had something done for them IRC

Friday-Sunday thing is not new thing

This may not be the biggest ever issue to hit our club - but it gives an insight into the poor planning, preparation and over all professionalism of some of the people involved in running the club.

If a club like Newcastle can be open for business every day in terms of stadium tours, why are we only open for business for 3 days a week ??

I've been past Ibrox many a time during the week and it's like a ghost town. Run past Old Trafford or Anfield any week day and it's a hive of activity.

From top to bottom our clubs needs a re-boot !!

That's what I was insinuating, Mate.
It doesn't cost much to put an advert in their programme before coming to Glasgow and for us to get something organised for their fans for the day before or the day of the game.

Agreed with other posts. Times and dates should be all over our site when glasgow has foreign supporters here

I was down at Ibrox picking up tickets a couple of years ago when Germany were playing Scotland at hampdump. There was busloads of their fans milling about and in the Rangers shop buying stuff(didn't have the heart to tell them we were boycotting at the time).

Hadn't really thought about this but we should be pro active with this stuff. An advert in their home programme for lunches and tours would have been a tremendous idea.

Am meeting a few Bayern fans tomorrow lunchtime we had met on holiday last year, the lads want to see Ibrox and a few pubs before the game, I was hoping they could have got in the main entrance. Sad to hear from the above that won’t be the case. I assume the Loudon isn’t open during the day?

This is exactly what we should be doing, contacting clubs and offering deals on tours and lunches. Easy money plus fans will buy merchandise definitely I do whenever I have done a tour.

Ujpest Dosza were playing the afternoon I strolled up to go to their shop ( couldn't attend the actual match).
Language barrier but they still managed to get a security person who walked us into the stadium, into their shop and even got me a couple of freebies. Then escorted us out, well happy that they took the time and effort and we spent a few bob.

We need to be more active

How difficult is it to get someone to show a group of people round the stadium?
Big Norman (one of the tour guides) is retired and only does the tours.

He would have no doubt jumped at the chance to give them the tour.

Maybe Broxi was unavailable.

You’d have thought that at least someone at the club would have thought about this sort of thing considering the dates of these games were announced weeks ago. Hopefully tomorrow the stadium will be open for tours as well as for when the Anderlecht fans are over in a few weeks.

are people really surprised though?

this is a club who had the captain of America twice in Claudio Reyna and Carlos Bocangera, never mind US players like DaMarcus Beasley and Maurice Edu and did nothing to market ourselves in the US where we could have made a packet through selling merchandise

our PR system has been a joke for years

It doesn't need a full time staff if that's the constraint, just a willing employee on hand to offer a tour at the relative drop of a hat.
