Summer Transfer Thread

Do you not think we are working on things in the background?

Gerrard and Allen have shown they like to get business done early. Deals will already be done or close to conclusion.

I am of the opinion that those with contacts within the club will already know about these but have been asked not to divulge, which is fair enough.

Let the club announce deals!
errrr.... i know. I was making light of the situation.

Some info on Ojo

John Gibbons of The Anfield Wrap, has spoken to The Scotsman about Sheyi Ojo’s loan move.

The Daily Record report that a deal has been agreed and that the 21-year-old is due to join up with the Gers squad for pre-season.

Just as was the case with Ryan Kent heading into last season, this would be the winger’s fifth loan spell away from Anfield.

In terms of a verdict on the youngster, Gibbons is split. He praises Ojo’s skill levels but says aspects of his career so far have raised concerns.

Talented but with a bad attitude?
“It is worrying that none of his loan moves have worked out pretty well,” he told the Scotsman. “He’s had problems with injuries, but there have also been question marks about his attitude from fans of clubs who have watched him.”

“He’s starred for England at all age groups. You just had a feeling with some of the loan moves he struggled for motivation. Like he felt he was above it all, which you can’t do in the Championship.

“Steven Gerrard will know him well and wouldn’t have taken him if he didn’t feel he could succeed where other managers have failed and unlock the considerable talent he has.

“He has huge amounts of natural talent. The ability to go round players like they aren’t there and when he is running at the opposition he is so dangerous. He really backs himself on the pitch which is good. He feels like he belongs on the big stage.

“In terms of weaknesses, it is mainly just the usual stuff with young attacking players. Decision making, drifting out of games and keeping his head up. It is fair to say he is better facing the goal than with his back to it as well.”

Verdict
It’s useful to get the opinion of someone who has seen plenty of Ojo in action.

Basically, it seems that Rangers will have a real player on their hands, but one who hasn’t yet lived up to his billing.

The situation is similar to that of Kent. Despite spending time at various clubs it took the move to Ibrox to finally unlock the greater part of his potential.

If Ojo’s capture is eventually confirmed, he should be given a clean slate. His attitude may be under fire here, but judgement should be reserved until we see what he offers in a Rangers shirt.

Fraser set to stay at Bournemouth

Aberdeen look set to miss out on a huge payday with Ryan Fraser likely to run down his contract at Bournemouth.
The winger was heavily linked with a move to Arsenal for £30m which would have seen the Dons pick up 20 per cent in a sell-on clause.

Right up them, always a bonus them missing out on some cash.
Heartwarming. Thanks smittbox7.

Two year deal rising to three based on appearances strange one that
It makes sense to me.

If he doesnt end up featuring much then we'll be able to get him off the books easily, unlike the likes of Hodson and Dodoo where they were still under contract despite obviously not being good enough.

But if it turns out he does really well then we can extend it without a new contract.
