Sunderland player banned for 3 games but will miss 4 games

It is a mental ruling.

How can you be suspended from playing a match, but that suspension doesn't count towards your suspension :D

Likewise

The referee performance after the sending off wouldn't have looked out place up here
Having seen his “performance” on Saturday as well as seeing Championship and EPL refs and then the 2 refs vs Ufa my conclusion is that all referees are attention seeking f**kwits not just the inadequate pile of horsesh1t we have officiating up here . Rant over :D

That is very true;)

Some clarification on the ruling below but frankly this is bollocks

Under FA rules a straight red card, which is deemed as a serious offence, carries a three-match ban from 'club football'.

The EFL Trophy is a first-team competition that has separate disciplinary rules, so if a player is suspended in a league game, the tournament's matches do not count against his tally of banned games.

So should an EFL Trophy game fall within the period where the player is banned, he will still be under suspension for the Trophy game as he is deemed not to have completed his ban.
